Harry was sitting at a table in the common room trying to write his stupid letter. Seamus sat next to him staring at his blank parchment mumbling under his breath.
"Who are you going to write to Seamus?"
"My mum. I mean she already knows but I'm trying to decide if I need to tell her about..." Seamus whispers "Nott, I mean, my parents met him and they like him but they don't know about his da. I think I should because if his da finds out it could be bad for my family, you know, if he decides to take it out on us but I don't want to break confidences either."
"Go talk to him. He's in his room, it's probably better to let your mum know; but if you think you need to talk to Nott first then go do it." Harry whispered back, "He might want to talk to you about what he writes in his letter."
"Yeah, I suppose that makes sense." Seamus packed up his stuff and goes upstairs to find his boyfriend.
Harry was staring down at his blank parchment when Ron and Hermoine came down from her room.
"How did it go with McGonagall, Harry?" Hermoine asks as she sits across from him. She casts a silencing spell around them.
"Yeah mate, my guess... cringey." Ron smirks.
"You are enjoying this too much Ron." Harry taps his quill against the parchment. "It was as good as it could be, I guess."
"What are you doing?" Hermoine looks down at the ink splattered parchment, "Classes haven't even started yet, I mean, I've read ahead in most of our subjects this year but honestly Harry, you're not one for getting ahead in course work so why are you staring miserably at the parchment?"
"McGonagall having you write lines?" Ron teases, "I shall not take advantage of my roommate or I shall not be caught in compromising situations or maybe I shall not shag guys..."
Harry looks down at the faded scar on his hand I shall not tell lies and smiles at how close the last one was.
"Stop it, Ronald! That's not funny."
Harry smiles, "Sod off, you wanker."
"Seriously Harry, what are you doing?" Hermoine pouts.
"We have to write a letter to an adult letting them know of our situation but how do you write a letter like that? I mean, poor Justin is being forced to come out again. That's not right, he shouldn't have to do that. I get that they want us to have a support system or whatever but still... he should do it on his terms."
"Potter!" Malfoy stomps into the common room looking thoroughly pissed off, "Where's Fletchley?"
Harry stands, breaking the silencing spell, "I think he's in Ernie's room. You ok, Malfoy?"
"Well beside getting detention before classes start, I'm fine. Crazy hag agreed with me but still gave me detention, because of my tone and attitude." He said in a mocking voice as he headed passed them towards the staircase.
"What's got his panties in a bunch?" Ron asked no one. "At least sarcasm registers as truth here, that's good to know.
"Leave him alone Ronald, he's had just as bad of a day as Harry has." Hermoine scolds.
"Probably worse." Harry looks at his parchment and sighs, "We need to send these tonight."
"Do you want help? Do you know who you're writing to yet?"
"Yeah, she told us any adult, so I think I know who I'm going to write to plus I'm like 99% sure he already knows so it shouldn't be a shock to him but I still don't know what to say... I think I'm going to take this to my room, too many prying eyes here."
