Harry knew, he just knew that Snape was going to be in a bad mood today. Too many people were laughing at his flaming letter at breakfast. The Gryffindors slowly made their way to the potion's classroom, not wanting to be early and suffer longer time with Snape and they did not want to be late either. Being late to potions would automatically lose points for their House. In Snape's defense any House would lose points if you were late, it just seems how many points lost varied.

"Potter, Finnigan, Thomas, Granger..." Malfoy sniffed as he walked past the Gryffindors.

"Oi. What about me?" Ron frowned.

"Oh, yeah, Weasel King, good morning. How's your sister?" Malfoy turned around to talk to Weasley smirking the whole while. "She single?"

"Shove off Malfoy, stay away from her."

"Just asking... for a friend perhaps." Malfoy looked at his nails, "She is old enough to make her own decisions, Weasley."

"I know what you're playing at." Ron growled, "Stay away from her. I mean it Malfoy, she's off limits to you."

"Oh, lighten up Weasel." Malfoy smiled, "I was joking." He turned around and entered the classroom.

Harry chuckled before dropping his smile when Ron glared at him.

"That's not funny Harry." Ron stormed into the class sitting as far away from Malfoy as he could.

"Honestly Harry." Hermoine pulled him aside so everyone could start taking their seats, "Ron is in a very bad spot you know. He's not blind, he sees what she's been doing to you but that's his sister. He has to protect her and now Malfoy's teasing him... when did Malfoy ever joke? Ron's been your best friend since you were 11, you shouldn't laugh."

"Sorry 'Moine, I didn't mean to, it just slipped out." Harry looked down at his feet.

"Oh, come on Harry." Hermoine pulled him into the class, leaving Harry so she could to sit next to Ron.

The classroom had two-person potion stations. A lot of the class was still lingering in the back. Ron and Hermoine chose a station in the front of the classroom. Malfoy was at the back. It looked like it would be divided down the middle by Houses again this year.

Harry took the station behind Ron and tapped him on the shoulder. "I'm sorry, mate, I shouldn't have laughed. I won't let him date Ginny either. OK?"

"It's fine." Ron turned around and gave Harry one of his lopsided smiles.

Parvati Patel smiled at Harry, "Hi Harry, anyone you saving this for?" She motions at the seat next to him.

"No, go ahead." Harry said, Ron smirked at him while she started to unpack her bag.

Everyone had partnered off exactly how Harry predicted. The Slytherins were on the left and the Gryffindor's to the right. People were still unpacking their bags as Snape swept in and marched to the front of the room. On a long table set up front were ten cauldrons, all of them under a statis spell.

"Now class, listen up, for I will only say this once." Snape began, "This year we will be focusing on getting you prepared to take your N.E.W.T.'s. I have before you, ten potions that will most likely make it onto your exam in one form or another. This year we will be creating each of these potions, some of them are way beyond the skills you have." Snape looked first at Harry, then Seamus. A look of disgust crossing his face; wondering how low a bar did Slughorn set to allow those two morons into his 8th year class. "However, preparation will be the key. Now, please line up. I would like all of you to tell me by sight, smell, or touch what potion is in each caldron. Do not cross the line you see before you until it is your turn. There is a silencing spell, so no cheating."
