Draco made his way to the hospital wing. Blaise nagged him all through dinner. He wasn't happy that he invited the Gryffindor's to their party Thursday. Every time he looked over to their table, Weasel was glaring at him. Now he had to have extra time with DuBois.

She was relentless, always trying to get more and more about his upbringing. How his father raised him, how emotions were banned from his house. Even his mother stopped being affectionate once he reached eight. DuBois was convinced that if he could break through his emotional suppression that he would be able to start making... what did she say? Oh yes, meaningful relationships. Whatever, he had meaningful relationships. Pansy and Blaise, they meant something to him. Theo and Greg were important. Justin... well he didn't think he cared about Justin; but maybe he does. It wasn't how Justin wanted him to, but he wasn't happy when Blaise was cruel. No, he was not happy about that at all. So, yes, Justin and maybe Daphne and Millie, they're in his house. He's always been protective of them. Even though they're too... smothering. He definitely could do without them, but he still wouldn't let them be mistreated. They're his housemates after all. So, there, meaningful relationships. Then there's Potter...

"Draco." Madame DuBois greeted him as he walked in through the open door, closing it behind him.

"I received your message."

"Yes, please sit down Draco. I've been speaking with a colleague of mine about your situation, and I wanted to talk to you about this before our next private session. I think this may help you understand yourself a little better."

"My situation?" Draco takes the arm chair closest to hers.

"Yes, your emotional state and how it has effected both your personal and romantic relationships."

"I believe I told you that I do not date, so which romantic relationships could you be referring to?"

"That's part of it, Draco. You're eighteen, you should be dating."

"What did your colleague say?"

"There is a lot to cover, but I wanted to ask you if you still find yourself broken?"

"Of course I'm broken. Do you think you were able to fix me in a month?"

"He felt that perhaps this feeling of being broken, of not having crushes, of not connecting with romantic partners is not just due to the emotional abuse you endured as a child."

"I wasn't abused."

"Draco..." Her voice softens, "All your medical tests show years of physical and magical abuse. The emotional abuse is harder to document. Spells can heal the physical and magical, but those wounds are imprinted on you."

"I wasn't..."

DuBois flips through her folder taking out the medical section of his file. "According to your file, your clavicle bone was fractured during your third year at Hogwarts. Your father's cane was considered as the possible weapon that caused the fracture, even though no one would confirm this; there are imprints of the cruciatus curse performed on you hundreds of times going back to when you were ten years old." DuBois closes the file, "I will not go through every documented case of magical and physical abuse. I don't feel that it would do any good, and without someone coming forward there is no way to tell who did any of that to you... but it is part of your past and eventually you'll need to deal with it."

"What does any of this have to do with what you needed to tell me?"

"There are people who do not easily fall into a category." DuBois pulls out what looks like a muggle pamphlet but doesn't hand it to him. "You told me that you thought that you didn't connect with the peers you tried to pursue romantically. You experimented with both sexes and felt nothing for either. Is that correct?"
