"A letter..." •
Daeron packed the remaining items he needed before closing his pack.
The young prince paused, staring at a letter on his bed, his eyes never straying. The letter was unmarked, but he knew the handwriting, it was to familiar yet a bit foreign for him to confirm who it was from.
Shuffling was heard behind him and even then he didn't turn away.
"Does your mother know?"
His aunt Alicent's soft voice questioned from the door.
Finally, he turns to face her. Her hands on her belly and her face contort in worry. She almost looked like his mother, yet they had they're differences.
His aunt Alicent looked less tired and stressed. Yet, the same warmth and love carried around her like his mother does.
"No, and it is to remain that way," Daeron responded, his tone hard but not harsh.
Alicent sighed, making her way toward him and taking a seat on his bed. Daeron's room was just as anyone would expect it to be.
Books scattered around on his bed, his desk, and on the floor. Various genres of books littered all over. The fireplace held the crackling fire that warmed their cold walls in Winterfell.
"How do you know it's true?" Alicent asks, glancing at the letter on the bed. She rubbed her aching stomach, feeling her child move restlessly inside her.
She was due at any moment, and she wished that her dear sister was there beside her as she delivered what she hoped a baby girl into the world.
She and Lucien had decided that whatever their child may be, they would raise them in Winterfell, as they both called the snowy tundra their home.
"What if the letter is false and something were to happen to you? I would not forgive myself, and I know your mother would surely blame herself someway somehow," Alicent rambled.
The fates would not allow their family to regain a small amount of peace, with Targaryen blood within the line. Alicent cursed the Gods, feeling angered by their betrayal.
"I don't know, but I trust that if the letter is true. I truly believe that the truth is meant to come out now, and Rhaenyra and Daemon will face their treasonous actions," Daeron said, his voice holding venom as he imagined his half sister and uncle.
