"It's Alicent..."

It was cold.

The air was crisp and it seemed to sting if one did not have warm protection on.

Elaina stared at the snow flakes falling slowly onto the ground, letting the cold winter air wrap around her while the snow drops kisses her face.

Her body had been numb, not even the cold had bothered her. The people around her who loved her and cared for her had brought her outside near an old tree surrounded by much younger ones.

Her heart had not been the same, it never has. Elaina's world seemed to have paused again.

Was this meant to be a life she was to live? Elaina could not see sense in that moment. The Gods have played with her relentlessly, played with her heart and mind as if she was a doll.

She was human, a living breathing creature that loved and cared for the people who surrounded her with the same integrity.

Ringing noise echoed in her ears as she tried to remember Helaena's smile, her daughter's laughter, her smell, the color of her eyes as it switched to different shades depending on her mood.

Her sweet daughter Helaena. A girl cursed with a burden of witnessing death beyond the eye can see.

"Mother..."

A soft and gentle voice called out to her, her body did not react to it. Elaina's eyes slowly welled up with tears as she recognized the voice, a voice she hasn't heard in years. Yet it was rough and rugged, but still held the same warmth it once had when she last heard it.

"Laenor? Is that you, son?" Elaina choked softly, whispering out into the clearing.

A figure approached her with caution yet the warm smile on his face said anything but danger.

"My son..." Elaina cried, her hand reaching out to him. Yearning to hold her child once again.

Laenor had not realized his own tears running down his face until the moment of breeze brushed his cheeks. He knelt in front of his mother, letting her hold his face as she analyzed every detail.

"Have I died and ascended...Where is Helaena? Or Laena? Where are my girls?" Elaina asked, looking up as she glanced around them.

Laenor's heart broke at her words, shaking his head softly as he held her hands.

"You have not left us, Mother. I am alive, I am finally here...and I am deeply regretful for leaving," Laenor sobbed, bowing his head.

"You're...You're alive?" Elaina asked softly, her voice hoarse the pain in her heart.

Laenor nodded breaking down in Elaina's arms as if the actions of his doing had finally caught up to him and the regret sunk deeper into his soul.

His poor mothers left alone and suffering, he had left them to fend for themselves against the gods.
