"I'm sorry, Mother..."
•Elaina sighed tiredly as she had spent hours all day making sure the city and its people are well kept. Not only that, the queen's mind felt like it was going to explode as the pile of papers she needed to look over continued to pile up.
It wasn't like she was complaining, but it also wasn't like she asked for all of this. Yes, being queen even when Viserys was still alive was a bit difficult, but she loved being able to have the freedom to go outside and be with her children or help the orphanages that called out to her.
Elaina breathed in slowly, before releasing the pent up tension in her body.
This was her life now, and she needed to step up to it. She would make sure the people of King's Landing have food distributed out twice a week, too keep them fed and at bay.
Elaina feared that if war to arise, the people would surely riot and send themselves into a panic. That was the last thing she needed.
The Queen glanced around her room, sitting at her desk that faced the door. The room was bright, as the sun beamed through the window.
A frantic knock came at her door, startling her and bringing her attention toward the noise.
"Your Majesty, Prince Aemond wishes to have an audience with you," A maid said as she walked in with Elaina's approval.
Elaina furrowed her eyebrows in confusion. Her son wishes to have an audience with her? Since when has he ever asked such a thing?
Elaina smiled nonetheless and nodded her head to let the maid know that Aemond was allowed to come in.
A moment of silence came after the maid left, before Aemond hurriedly walked through with panic in his eyes.
Seeing this, Elaina quickly stood from her spot and walked toward her son. Her hands immediately checking around his body for injuries as she inspected his damp hair and red eyes.
"My sweet, what has happened?" Elaina asked worriedly.
Aemond stared at his mother for a moment, his silence deafening.
Before Elaina could utter another word, Aemond leaned and hugged his mother tightly. His arms wrapped around her as he shook in her arms.
Her son was shaking, her child was shaking and she didn't know why.
Soon the sound of sniffing and wet droplets fall onto her shoulders.
