"Evidence," •
"Thank you,"
Aegon whispered, nodding his head toward the maids who bowed to him before leaving. They had just prepared and wrapped Helaena's body for the funeral the day after tomorrow.
Aegon had sent a letter as soon as he was able too, staining the paper with tears as the prince struggled to let his mother and brothers know that Helaena is dead.
Now, here he stands staring at his sister. Her head would be the last thing they wrap before the funeral, to let the grieving family see their face one last time.
Candles surrounded her body and around the room, creating a warmth coat aura around them. An aura similar to Helaena's hugs and smile.
Two small bodies stand beside him, they too staring at their mother with teary eyes. Aegon held them close to him, not wanting to let go.
"You can rest now, dream until you are satisfied. I promise I'll take care of our kids," Aegon whispered, rubbing his daughter's head softly as she wept quietly into his leg.
Silence answered him back, his eyes rimmed red as she had been crying since he arrived. His voice still hoarse as he rubbed it softly to soothe as he spoke.
"Sleep well, dear sister," Aegon said, before turning away. Walking out of the room she had been laid in.
"I will read you both a story before bed, I promise. I love you both, do well to remember that my little prince and princess," Aegon whispered lovingly toward his remaining children, kneeling down to their level and hugging them as tight as he could.
"We love you too, papa," The twins murmured, tears still running down their small faces.
A maid had appeared, bowing at Aegon before guiding the prince and princess back to their shared room.
Aegon watched as his son and daughter walk away from him, clinging to one another for comfort and stability.
His heart ached once more, knowing that the gods were playing a cruel game with his family. A game they did not want to play.
"My Prince," A gruff voice called out as soon as the smaller prince and princess kissed their father goodnight and waited for a moment.
Turning around to face the person, Aegon's eyes met with another. Waiting patiently for them to speak.
"My sincere condolences, my prince," Ser Criston said, bowing as he spoke.
"Yes,"
Aegon watched Ser Criston stand straight up, adjusting his armor for a bit before standing perfectly as a knight.
"Is there something else you'd like to discuss, Ser Criston?" Aegon questioned, folding his arms as he narrowed his eyes at the man.
All Aegon wanted was to just lay on his bed, let slumber take over him and let him forget the events that has happened. Let him forget even just for an hour.
