When I arrived home I was exhausted because it has been a long day, with the whole introducing myself every time I enter a class room and to be honest that really got on my last nerve so anyways I went upstairs to go and freshen up, went downstairs again to make a sandwich for myself because I was hungry, obviously then I finally went upstairs to take a nap since granny was not back yet.

“Kay honey I’m home, where are you baby granny wants to talk to you real quick,” she said in her melodic voice. When I heard her voice I immediately came downstairs to find her already seated on the couch waiting for me.

“Hey mami what’s up,” I said taking a seat next to her.
“Okay listen up honey,” she started,

“I know as you grow older you would want to date and all that but I need you to kind of refrain from that for now, I’m not saying don’t ever date or have guy friends or even a crush but I’m just saying, for now can you just refrain from worrying about boys and having your heart broken because baby I know you, you’re too sensitive and if a boy breaks your heart you’ll have a mental breakdown and won’t be able to focus on your school work, am I being clear?” she finished.

“Okay mami I hear what you are saying to me but why are you telling me this especially now,” I asked.

“Honey I’m telling you this because I want to see you successful in life, I want to see you succeed first and put all your haters to shame, look I know people who have met their husbands in high school and they have turned out great but baby I know you, you have a very small heart and you’re oversensitive and I do not want to see you hurt, just avoid all the drama, show all those who are pulling you down that you can do it without paying attention to their silly comments most of all I want you to show it to your mother showing her that you do it without her and lastly you can date or rather get married when you have your own businesses, house and cars even,” she said and her speech made me feel more confident about where my life is heading right now.

(Kayra you are still in high school with two friends the only destination your life is headed to right now is detention if you hand in incomplete homework)

“I promise to not disappoint you on that mami,” I replied smiling at her.
“So tell me how was your first day of school?” she asked me looking very excited to hear what I have to say.

“Well let me start by saying that people can be very and I mean very nosy when they put their minds to it, especially the ones at that school,” I said chuckling at the memory of how my day went.

“Girl tell me about it when I was calling them to register you in, the reception lady asked if I was by any chance related to the late Aron King, I was shook and I just said me being related to Aron is none of her business,” mami said whilst being overly dramatic.

“Mami nooooo, I like that lady, she is super nice and sweet,” I said stifling a laugh.
“I did not say she was being mean, I mean what she needs to do is to learn to mind her business because someone could have given her a much worse answer than mine and you know how I hate when people do that, that’s my son,” she said looking a bit upset.

It was quiet for about two minutes when mami decided to speak up again.
“I mean I did feel bad for answering her like that, I felt like I was being rude so I called again and apologized,” she said now I laughed, mami is just too sweet sometimes.

“Now that is the mami I know,” I laughed and she just stuck out her tongue like a little child and I burst out laughing even more.
“Aren’t you too old to be sticking your tongue at your granddaughter?” I asked in between my laughs, my stomach is starting to hurt from all the laughter.

“Oh shush,” she replied getting up and heading towards the kitchen so I also took that as my queue to leave.
“Honey can you quickly finish whatever you’re doing and get ready for dinner.” Mami called out from the kitchen and let me tell you that for a woman who hates noise she sure does make a lot of it.
“Okay mami,” I shouted so I put my books away since I was doing my homework and quickly freshened up then went to eat dinner with mami.

“I said quickly finish what you were doing and you mean to tell me that you being here 30 minutes later is finishing quickly,” she questioned looking at me with amusement swimming in her eyes.

“Well my beautiful mami if you must know I was doing my homework when you called me then I took a shower Real quick,” I answered.
“Mmmmh, sweetheart tell me this, must you always have an excuse or answer for anything and everything”
“Oh come on mami, it is not an excuse,” I whined.
“Whatever floats your boat sweetheart,” she replied smirking.
“Mami I am telling the truth,” now I was full on pouting with my arms crossed.
“Okay baby I believe you, now let’s eat shall we?” she chuckled, I nodded and so we ate.

After dinner I cleaned up the dining table, did the dishes then went back to my room and carried on with my homework. After I finished I just laid in bed thinking about what said earlier and about my brother.
I really hope to fulfil my promise to mami because I would hate it if I were to disappoint her.

After dad died Kyle and I were her only hope but now I think it’s just me considering the fact that I left without Kyle, I miss him so much.
I was slowly drifting off to sleep when one disturbing thought invaded my mind, I was missing my mom and sisters despite the fact that they mistreated me.
