Third-Person POV.

As the queen watched the dark witch in pain, she couldn't help but feel a sense of guilt in her heart. She knew she had done the right choice, casting that spell on Madrona should be enough to let Weiss get the upper hand, it should be enough to end all of this, everything. Yet, the queen didn't know if she had the heart to end it. Because ending it meant starting another problem. Her little sister, the princess. The queen just couldn't get a break from it all. It seemed that whatever she did, whatever she wanted to do, her actions will always end up bearing dire consequences. Whether it was because she was the queen or not, her choices will always affect other people, and whilst she knew to always prioritize the wellness of her kingdom and people, she was having a hard time deciding whether she should let Willow have the last strike.

Should Willow? After all the princess did and not to mention her unhealthy obsession with killing the dark witch, should she still have the right to land the last strike against Madrona? Especially now that she, herself, was slowly drifting off into the darkness? Weiss didn't know what to do. Hell, the queen wasn't sure how to handle Willow's future. By dabbling in dark magic, the greatest sin one could ever make against the kingdom of witches and wizards, one should be sentenced with the death penalty... But this was Willow, the princess of the said kingdom, and the sister of the queen. Was she exempted just because she was royalty? The answer must be no, absolutely not. Yet the queen chose to ignore her thoughts instead.

This can wait, but the truth can't, Weiss thought to herself as she squinted her eyes at the dark witch's crying figure. The queen was confident that her spell was powerful enough to weaken a dark witch, thus, she felt that the time was right. Even though she didn't want to believe, even though she didn't want to hear it, she had no choice. She had the right to know, as Wendy's daughter, and as the current queen. For she knew she never made the mistake of telling anyone where that dark book was hidden. Thus, if it wasn't Weiss, it had to be someone else. But the problem was, the only ones who knew where the dark book was hidden were the rulers of the kingdom. The list included Weiss as the present queen, but before her, there was Wendy.

Taking a deep breath, the queen spoke, "Your arrogance can't save you now, can it?" Walking slowly, Weiss began circling the pained dark witch. Seeing as Madrona was too hurt to respond, the blonde sadist couldn't help but chuckle lowly before quickly displaying an emotionless expression.

"Now... I'll ask again, how did you learn about dark magic?"

Why did the queen so desperately long to find out the truth? Was it so she could prevent it from happening again? Was it so she could hide the dark book better? Or was it so she could avoid judgment? Unfortunately, the answer was none of the above. It was so she could understand where she went wrong. Others may never comprehend why she was so desperate for it, but for Weiss? Finding out that a witch learned dark magic during your reign was an absolute nightmare. It felt as if she failed her people, her family, her kingdom, and most of all, herself. After all, Weiss Hudson had always made sure that everything was in place in her kingdom, she made sure that every law was analyzed thoroughly, that every citizen had rights, that punishments were just, that injustice was abolished, and that everything was perfect and peaceful. However, the worst possible scenario came out of nowhere, and for the first time in a long while, Weiss was no longer in control.

And she despised that with all of her heart.

This was her attempt to make everything okay, to bring back the peace and silence she worked tirelessly to maintain. But first, she just needed to find out where she went wrong.

"Y-You s-simpleton!" Madrona yelped out loud as she clutched her stomach and began coughing rivers of blood.

Weiss' green eyes shone and just as she was about to mock the dark witch for being defeated by her very own spell, she couldn't help but notice something different in Madrona's expression. Sure, the dark witch's brows were furrowed, her lips were bleeding, her eyes closed shut, and her hands shaking uncontrollably yet.. she had a tiny smirk, the tiniest smirk that not even the human naked eye could see. However.. if Madrona truly was smirking then.. what did that mean for Weiss?
