"and today we are joined with lacy hope! everyone welcome her to the show!" the radio host also known as roman kemp announces.
i'm sat opposite them with a big mic with a capital breakfast logo on it stuffed in my face. i got the phone call yesterday that my brand new single selfish was moving up the charts and was now in the number five spot.
"thank you for having me!" i giggle as team members move all around me making sure the listeners get the best version of my voice and words.
"now you've not had to travel far today have you?" the other radio host known as sian says.
"no me and my family live around 20 minutes away from here so it's perfect really! like i was made to be on capital" i joke around making everyone laugh.
"so have you always lived in london?" roman asks me, i nod my head before answering
"yes! i was born and raised here"
"so how long would you say it took you to write selfish. obviously your only 20 years old so it is a big thing for such a young person" sian smiles at me.
"i actually wrote selfish in one night after my relationship had just ended, i think the huge flow of emotions all came at once as i was angry, sad and also relieved that the relationship was over. however, it then took me a year to find a studio that was willing to give me enough time as i did not have a manager nor a record label" i explain to everyone.
"so i had to produce the whole song by myself, well with a little help from my dad. he is also very musical himself. anyway, i then posted a video on tiktok of me singing the song on the grand piano in the studio and it blew up! that's how my manager found me, haley. she's so lovely and has helped me so much within the last month finding a record label and people to help out with the song"
"wow 20 years old and doing that all by yourself! you must have some real inspiration for this all"
"hmm, i don't think the song itself really reflects anyone i really worship in life as the type of music i actually listen to is quite the opposite of this song. so when people ask me who my inspiration is i never really know what to say. i am a huge fan of the arctic monkeys and i think their work is so great. but another person that i think deserves so much more hype then they are getting is sam fender...i think his music is the reason i am here today still smiling"
"oh wow so quite the opposite of your own music!?"
"yes"
"well unfortunately that's all we have time for this morning but this has been lacy hope!" roman announces.
"now lacy would you do the honours of introducing your song to capital?"
"of course! hi i'm lacy hope and your listening to selfish on capital breakfast!"

"so how would you feel about making a second single?" haley asks over the phone i'm laid in bed with my guitar on top of me.
"oh my gosh! they want to me to make a second single?!"
"yesyesyes! they want more of an upbeat catchier song too which i know is more in your style" she says
"ahhh this is so exciting! my guitar is literally on top of me right now!"
"perfect! i'll leave you then! get writing lacy your going to be a star!"
