singer lacy hope rose to fame in january 2019, after her debut single selfish was released and went viral in an instant, she signed with simon cowells record label and management team: syco records and modest management. from behind closed doors, the business seems like a dream creating stars such as one direction, james arthur and many more. but lacy was not afraid to reveal the sad reality behind it all.
lacy claimed she had been acting 'rebellious' towards her management purposefully for a while now, in hope that they would slowly lose their motivation with her and she would be able to find a new management team. she did this by constantly being the talk of the press, being seen drinking every weekend, her and her boyfriend being papped and even an occasion where they were seen walking into a sex shop...whether she set that up on purpose we do not know.
finally in march lacy received the news that syco and modest no longer wanted to be working with her and were taking her to court so settle the contract. however that's where lacy was quick to fire back claiming emotional abuse from the team.
it was revealed and proven my multiple doctors that lacy was diagnosed with bulimia in the later months of last year, she suggested it all started when her manager would make remarks about her body. lacy was then quick to back this up by showing screenshots of her messages with her manager who told her 'you need to prove to them you are not pregnant' and also said 'how is your diet going?'
lacy also revealed that following her mums death her management barely gave her time to grieve before telling her she needed to start writing new music. this meant lacy rushed her bereavement and from what has been said it appears she had depression without knowing it. all down to her management.
with the eating disorder, depression and also many occasions of panic attacks with proof lacy was able to sue modest management for £2million due to emotional abuse and manipulation. it was then later revealed after many court dates that syco records were also taking a large portion of lacy's money from her music while she was completely unaware. in total they owed lacy £6 million pounds as lacy made £4 million just from her album.
it's been 2 days since the court case was dismissed with the jury on lacy's side, she has now received her money, started a new contract with the same manager as her rockstar boyfriend and is now signed to polydor records.
