Third person POV

Collin and Lucy continued to lead Buffy through the tunnels until the made it to the entrance of the Master's lair. Collin stopped, gesturing for Buffy to enter as he left the way the came, while Lucy stayed by Buffy's side. Both girls entered the lair, with Buffy looking around for the Master and Lucy staring straight ahead.

"Welcome." The Master's voice rang out.

"Thanks for having me." The Master stepped into the light, watching the Slayer.

"I must say, though the invitation was clear. No pets." The Master snarled, looking at the young Seer. Lucy's eyes closed as she fell to the floor. Buffy quickly reached for her, checking her neck for a pulse. When could feel one, she breathed out a sigh of relief, before standing back up to face the Master.

"You know, you really ought to talk to your contractor. Looks like you got some water damage."

"Oh, good. The feeble banter portion of the fight. Why don't we just cut to the..." Buffy quickly shot a bolt into the direction of his voice, but the Master caught it before it could pierce his chest. "Nice shot."

"You're not going to kill me with that thing."

"Don't be so sure."

"You still don't understand your part in all this, do you? You are not the hunter. You are the lamb."

Buffy continued to search for the Master. "You know, for someone who's all powerful, you sure do like to hide."

"I'm waiting for you. I want this moment to last."

"Well, I don't." The Master suddenly appeared by Buffy.

"I understand." Buffy turned around, terrified, as the Master knocked the crossbow out of her hands. He gripped her throat, looking at her meaningly. She managed to knock his hand away from her throat and run away, but was stopped as the Master raised his hand, catching her with his hypnotic powers.

The Master stalked closer to her while Buffy could do nothing to get away. He moved to stand behind and took off her jacket, while Buffy's breath became shaky.

"You tried. It was noble of you. You heard the prophecy that I was about to break free and you came to stop me. But prophecies are tricky creatures. They don't tell you everything." The Master leant down to whisper in Buffy's ear. "You're the one that sets me free! If you hadn't come, I couldn't go. Think about that!"

The Master bent down and sank his teeth into Buffy's neck, who gasped in pain and fear. The Master drank a few sips of blood before he lifted his head up with his mouth agape.

"Oh, God! The power!" He released her as Buffy fell to her knees. "And by the way... I like your dress."

He stepped around the Slayer, who had collapsed face first into the water, towards the edge of his prison. He forced his hand through the invisible forcefield causing a burst of light that allowed him to escape.

Angel and Xander ran into the Master's lair. They spotted Lucy at the entrance, still out cold. Xander bent down to check her pulse. "She's alive. Where's Buffy?"

Angel looked around the lair before his gaze settled on the Slayer in the pool. He rushed to her, while Xander picked up Lucy in his arms and brought her with him so he could check on Buffy. Angel pulled Buffy out of the water and tried to check for any breathing. He looked at Xander with disbelief.

"She's dead!"
