Buffy, Willow and I were walking down the hallway at school, as we discussed Buffy's upcoming visit with her dad. (Lucy's outfit below)

"So, do you see your dad a lot?"

"So, do you see your dad a lot?"

"Not a whole lot. He's still in L.A. He only comes down for weekends sometimes."

"When did they get divorced?"

"Well, it wasn't finalized till last year, but they were separated before that."

"Must have been harsh."

"Yeah, that's the word you're looking for. I mean, they were really good about it around me, anyway, but still..."

"My parents don't even bicker. Sometimes they glare."

"My parents aren't together either. They had a fling, had me by accident and constantly fight about whether I should be focusing on my wolf powers or my seer powers. You know, when they're not 'secretly' making out. Ugh." I sighed, putting air quotes around 'secretly'. Willow and Buffy looked away from me awkwardly.

"So... Do you know why your folks split up?" Willow continued.

"I didn't ask. They just stopped getting along. I'm sure I was a really big help, though, with all the slaying and everything. I was in so much trouble. I was a big mess."

"Well, I'm sure that didn't have anything to do with him leaving."

"No."

"And he still comes down on weekends." I added, trying to make Buffy feel better.

"Sometimes."

We walked into the classroom to see Xander and Wendell looking slightly annoyed.

"Uh, Wendell was in Cordelia's light." Xander explained.

"I'm so ashamed."

"Why is she so Evita-like?"

"I think it's the hair."

"It weighs heavy on the cerebral cortex."

"My money is on... her money."

"Hey, guys, was there any homework?"

"We're doing active listening today."

"Cool! What's active listening?"

"That would be the homework, genius." I rolled my eyes, taking my seat next to Xander.

"Chapter five? Active listening? Where you put on your big ears and really focus on the other person?"

"Ms. Tishler demonstrated it yesterday."

"With you."

"She was wearing that tight sweater?"

"Oh, the midnight blue angora! See, I was listening." We shook our heads at him.

"Alright, take your seats. In a moment, we will choose partners and practice what we read about in chapter five." Ms. Tishler announced. Xander cupped his ears in response. "Good, Xander, that's the spirit!"

He looked at me smugly, so I gave him a sarcastic thumbs up.

"Before we do, let's review. Isaacson's research led him to conclude that one of our most fundamental needs after food and shelter is to be heard. Wendell, would you read the first two paragraphs on page 78 where Isaacson describes the rapid improvement active listening brought to some special needs clients."

Wendell opened his book, only to scream as tarantulas came crawling out of it. Everyone started panicking and screaming as they tried to get away from the tarantulas. Xander, Buffy, Willow and I jumped out of our seats, watching in horror as the boy continued to scream.

"Please! Get them off of me! Help! Help! Get them off of me! Help me! Oh, please help me! Please!"
