Lucy POV

We were trying to figure out what our next move would be, when we heard glass being smashed. "Oh, no!" Buffy said, before running towards the noise with me behind her. We ran down the hall where we ran into the others.

"He's in there!" Xander told us.

"Uh, go! Get out!"

"They'll be okay. C'mon!" Xander promised to Owen, dragging him away from the danger, while Buffy and I ran to confront the Anointed one. "Shall we gather at the river? The beautiful, beautiful river?" We could hear him singing. Cause being a prophecy vampire isn't creepy enough for this guy! We ran back to Giles for weapons; I had left mine in the morgue when we heard the glass breaking.

"What've you got?"

"What?"

"What'd you bring? Do you have a stake?"

"Oh, uh..." Giles stammered, handing her his stake as I grabbed mine. "Thank you!"

"W-what should I do?"

"Um, go outside and make sure the others are okay." Just then Andrew came up from behind Buffy and threw her into a cabinet. "Buffy!" Giles and I ran to help her.

"They told me about you while I was sleeping." Giles held up a cross which made Andrew wince. "Uh! Why does he hurt me?" Andrew slapped the cross out of Giles' hand and threw him into the crematory controls, which turned on the fires, but also knocked Giles out. Andrew went to reach for Buffy, but I quickly punched him as hard as I could. He stumbled back and I went to hit him again, but this time he caught my fist. I tried hitting with my other arm, but he grabbed my throat and threw me to the other side of the room.

"Buffy!" I heard Owen yell. I looked up and, through the black spots starting to cover my eyesight, saw Andrew holding Buffy in the air. "No!" Was the last thing I heard before I passed out from the pain.

When I woke up Buffy had thrown Andrew into the fire with Giles locking him in. I slowly got up, with a helping hand from Giles. "Does anyone have an aspirin? Or sixty?"

"Owen!"

"What happened to that guy?"

"Oh... We scared him away."

"Oh, good. 'Cause, y'know, I would've..."

"I know. Here..." Buffy said, helping him up. "I'm sure this isn't exactly what you had in mind for our first date."

"Yeah! I was hoping maybe we'd finish at Ben & Jerry's."

"We still could..."

"No, I, I, I think I'll just walk home... Uh, which way's home?"

"I'll get you there."

"No, I'll, I'll go it alone." Xander and Willow walk over, helping Owen. "We'll make sure he gets home safely." They all walk out, leaving Giles, Buffy and me.

"Buffy, if I might..."

"Don't!" Buffy interrupted. We were silent for a moment, before I turned to Buffy. "You can walk me home." Buffy looked at me and then grabbed onto my arm, walking me outside.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

"Well, did Owen say anything about me on the way home?"

"Oh, you mean specifically about you?" Willow asked nervously.

"Or generally... In the area... In the ballpark... Any sort of indication?"

"Well, in that case, no." Xander answered, resulting in a slap on the head from me.

"But he was pretty incoherent, so we might've missed it."

"You think?"

"No." Another slap.

"I knew it. I totally blew it last night!"

"No, see, what you need is a guy who already knows your deepest, darkest secrets and still says, 'Hey! I like that girl!' Someone like..."

"Owen!" Buffy exclaimed, seeing him coming towards her.

"Well, heh... This is our stop." Willow said, dragging me and Xander away. I came across Giles and began discussing last night's success. We walked over to the steps and saw Buffy had finished talking to Owen and judging by the look on Owen's face it was not going well. We walked over to the benches where I wrapped my arm comfortingly around Buffy's shoulder.

"I was ten years old when my father told me I was destined to be a Watcher. He was one, and his mother before him, and I was to be next."

"Were you thrilled beyond all measure?"

"No, I had very definite plans about my future. I was going to be a fighter pilot. Or possibly a grocer. Well, uh... My father gave me a very tiresome speech about, uh, responsibility and sacrifice."

"What about you, Luce?"

"I was eleven when the first vision hit me. I got told about my destiny and how it would be dangerous, so I stopped hanging out with everyone. Seemed like the best way to protect people. Sacrifice and all that."

"Sacrifice, huh?"

"Seems like a nice lad."

"Yeah. But he wants to be danger man. You, Xander, Willow, you guys... you guys know the score, you're careful. Two days in my world and Owen really would get himself killed. Or I'd get him killed. Or someone else."

"I, I went to the funeral home of my own free will."

"And I should've been there."

"Buffy..."

"I blew it!"

"I have volumes of lore, of prophecies, of predictions. But I don't have an instruction manual. We feel our way as we go along. And, I must say, as a Slayer, you're, you're doing... pretty well."

"Well. At least I did stop that prophecy thing from coming true."

"You did! Handily. No more Anointed One. And I would imagine the Master, wherever he is, is having a fairly bad day himself."

That night, I had the vision of the Master again. He was still greeting the Anointed One. I couldn't see his face, but I knew this meant Andrew was not who we were after. The Anointed was still around. Crap...
