Willow, Xander and I were in the hallway when Cordelia passed by looking dazedly ahead. "Cordelia! You haven't been mean to me all day. Is it something I've done?" Xander shouted at her retreating form, before turning to us. "See how she has no clue that I'm a man, much less a human being?"
"I see that."
"The Invisible Man Syndrome. A blessing in Cordelia's case. A curse in Buffy's.
"You're not invisible to Buffy."
"No, he pretty much is." I said jokingly, smirking at him.
"It's worse. I'm part of the scenery. Like an old shoe. Or a rug you walk on every day, but don't really see."
Willow pulled out the chewed up pen from her mouth "Like a pen that's chewed up - you know you should throw it away, but you don't. Not cos you like it, more cos you're used to..."
"That is the point. You don't have to drive it through my head like a railroad spike. I've gotta take your advice and not beat around the bush."
Willow started to backtrack when Xander said that. "Or, I could be wrong. Maybe you should beat around the bush more."
"Nah, I've gotta be a man and ask her out. I've gotta stop giving her ID bracelets, subtle innuendoes, taking Polaroids outside her window late at night. That last part is a joke to relieve tension because here she comes." We saw Buffy walking towards us looking at Cordelia who was trying to open a locker. "Into battle I go." Xander grabbed my arms suddenly making Willow and I jump. "Would you ask her out for me? No. Man. Me battle."
"He's not gonna ask her." I said as he went over to Buffy.
"You think?" Willow asked smiling brightly making me raise an eyebrow. "That sounded way too hopeful didn't it." We turned back to Xander and Buffy.
"Buffy? Would you like to-"
"Is that Cordelia's locker?"
"Huh? I don't know. What I'm saying is, accompany me Friday n-"
"Xander, I have to, um. We can make this up later."
Buffy followed after Cordelia leaving Xander standing alone. We went over to him as Xander whistled then mimicked an explosion.
Lucy's POV
Everyone was in the library again after Buffy had saved Cordelia, whose eyes had been completely glazed over so she could not see, from getting hit by a truck.
"Witchcraft. Blinding your enemy|to disorient and disable them - it's a classic." Giles explained.
"First vampires, now witches. No wonder you can still afford a house in Sunnydale." Xander joked.
"Why should someone harm Cordelia?"
"Maybe because they met her?" Willow quipped then looked suprised. "Did I say that?"
"And setting Amber ablaze?"
"Yeah, they don't hang."
"They're both cheerleaders." I mentioned.
"Someone doesn't like cheerleading?" Giles asked.
"Or likes it too much." Buffy hinted.
"Amy!" Willow said realizing it.
"Amy." I agreed.
"So you guys are leaning towards Amy?"
"She's desperate to get on the team. I get the feeling she'd do anything to make her mom's dream come true."
