Buffy wandered down the empty streets, on her way to the Bronze. As she walked on she heard footsteps behind her. Concerned, she turned around and saw a figure who was seemed to look straight at her. Buffy carried on, quite anxious, as the figure followed behind her. Buffy turned a corner into an alley and glanced around for anything to aid her.
The figure stepped closer unaware of Buffy, who used a pipe that kept her body up, above him. She swung down and kicked him so he fell to the ground on his back. She jumped down and placed her foot on his stomach as he looked up at her, amused. He revealed himself a very handsome man who looked only a few years older than Buffy.
"Is there a problem, ma'am?" he chuckled. She glared down at him.
"Yeah, there's a problem. Why are you following me?"
He smirked at her. "I know what you're thinking, but don't worry. I don't bite."
She backed away from him baffled. He stood up and brushed off the dirt from his clothes. "Truth is, I thought you'd be taller. Or bigger. Muscles and all that. You're pretty spry though."
"What do you want?"
"Same thing you do."
"Okay, what do I want?"
"To kill 'em. To kill 'em all." he whispered in a serious tone.
"Sorry! That's incorrect but you do get this lovely watch and a year's supply of Turtle Wax," Buffy imitated a game show host. "what I want is to be left alone."
"You really think that's an option anymore? You're standing at the mouth of Hell. And it's about to open." He threw a box at her which she caught.
"Don't turn your back on this. You've got to be ready." he told her.
"For what?"
"For the Harvest." he answered as he walked away from her.
"Who are you? "
"Let's just say I'm a friend."
" Well, maybe I don't want a friend."
"I didn't say I was yours"
Buffy watched him until he was out of sight. She opened the box he gave her and saw a necklace with a small cross on it.
Buffy sauntered around the Bronze as she attempted to find a familiar face. She saw a guy, who smiled and waved at her, so she smiled and waved back. She looked behind her and noticed that the guy that waved at her had actually waved at the guy behind her. Embarrassed, she pretended to fix her hair.
She walked towards the bar where Willow sat. She sat on the school next to Willow.
"Hi!" Buffy said. Willow looked at her surprised.
"Oh, hi! Hi."
"Are you here with someone? "
"No, I'm just here. I thought Xander was gonna show up..."
"Oh. Are you guys going out?"
"No. We're just friends. We used to go out, but we broke up."
"How come?"
"He stole my Barbie." Buffy gave her a confused look. "W-we were five."
"Oh."
"I don't actually date a whole lot lately."
"Why not?"
"Well, when I'm with a boy I like, it's hard for me to say anything cool, or witty, or at all... I can usually make a few vowel sounds, and then I have to go away."
