Thirty Six

"Hi, I'm looking for Dr Shepherd" looking over I see this woman with long black hair with blue eyes and sand colored skin before a nurse.

"So you have an appointment?" She asks

Shaking her head no "No" looking around "could you point me in the direction of his office?"

"I'm sorry" she looks at this woman scared and this woman looks at her confused.

"What's your problem?" She asks

"She has that look on her face" Mark explains to the woman "because the last time someone walked into this hospital looking for Dr. Shepherd, without an appointment shot him"

"Mark!" She exclaims hugging Mark, he laughs "Oh my god!"

Pulling away crossing her arms smiling "You still look hot"

"And you" he looks her up and down "are...you look more grown up"

"I look hot" she says "you can say that"

"Hi" she looks my way "I'm RJ, your Derek's sister?"

"His youngest sister" she says "Dr. Amelia Shepherd"

"What are you doing in Seattle?" Mark asks

"Derek's an ass" she says "who won't return any of my calls"

"That's because he's in jail" she looks my way bewildered before laughing and then she laughs even harder when we aren't joking.

"This" she says "I've got to see for myself"

"Come on" nodding my head over "I'll take you"

"Wait" some guy says "what about my brain tumor?"

"Mark" Amelia introduced "Wade, Wade this is Mark. He'll help you" looking my way "you are very hot and congratulations on the baby"

"Thanks" smiling her way "I'll introduce you to Meredith later, she's my cousin"

"Ooh" nodding her head "I've been curious about the woman who got my brother to leave Addison" getting into my car "wait, RJ...your the one who saved my brother"

"Yup" nodding my head yes "are you going to tell your family?" My phone goes off and it's Meredith telling me it's alright to tell them what happened, but she wants to tell Derek herself.

"Hell Yeah!" She exclaims "actually" she goes to call someone and after a few minutes "Ugh! You know what" she says aloud "Hey! News update on our only brother, he's in prison!" Looking my way "I texted them and" her phone goes off "now they want to talk"

"Don't have a good relationship with them?" I ask

"No" shaking her head no as she answers "Hi Nancy" she's silent "all I know is that he's in jail, going to see him right now"

"Put them on speaker" she does "Hi Nancy is it?"

"Yes" she says "who's this?"

"The doctor who saved your brother's life, cousin to Meredith" listing who I am "and I'm the reason your brother will be spending a month in jail"

"Let me put you in a conference call" she does and after a few minutes "Kathleen, Liz, mom—Meredith's cousin who saved Derek and put Derek in jail is now going to explain why Derek's in jail"

"Oh yes" someone says "tell us why"

"Meredith's pregnant" I say and multiple questions go through.

"Guys!" Amelia exclaims as we get to the police station "Let's let her talk"

"Meredith has been stressed out for the last couple weeks with how Derek has been driving recklessly, she's worried that he's going to die and she'll get that phone call" I explain to them "and she's currently at risk of losing the baby, she has been trying to find the right time to tell Derek but he's been scheduling multiple surgeries and she's always angry at him for how he's driving. She's in her second trimester now—Derek hasn't been thinking clearly since being shot, she actually nearly lost the baby that day too. So Derek being in jail right now is the only way to help Meredith and her stress"

"You could tell our brother" Liz suggests

"Meredith wants to do it after Derek gets out" I say "but if you put yourself on face time Amelia, you can show your mom and sister's Derek"

"I am doing that right now" she says and we head into the police station, Jimmy lets us back and Amelia laughs when we see Derek in the jail reeking of piss.

He looks our way "Amy?" He comes over "have you come to release me"

She shakes her head no "Say hi to mom and our sisters" showing him the screen of how she's on FaceTime with her sisters and mom.

"Mom?" He asks "Kathleen? Nancy? Liz? Are one of you coming out to bail me out of jail?"

"No" they all say

"RJ" Nancy says "informed us about your reckless driving and we agree that you being in jail seems like a fit punishment"

"You smell like" Amelia wrinkles her nose "like"

"I know!" He snaps "a meth head pissed on me!" I laugh loudly and he glared at me "let me out of here!"

"Nope" shaking my head no

"RJ" Amelia asks "could you give us some time?" Walking away, we hear Derek be yelled at by his mom and sisters. This is just oh so funny.

It was funny until Derek yells "Oh my god Amy you're so annoying, this is one of the reasons our sisters and mom hate you! I wish you had just died when you OD'ed, we all wish that!" Holy shit, going over to them I see Amelia staring at him pained while he's angry and then regret flashes through his eyes.

"If any of you want to see Derek" telling his sisters who have been calling Amelia's name "you can see him in person but he won't be let out until I say so" hanging up the phone, looking at Amelia "come on" she asks beside me and Jimmy looks my way "add an extra month, if your superior has a problem with it send him my way" we go to my car and once inside Amelia has a tear slip "Amelia"

"Just drive" she orders staring at the dashboard, I take her to my place since I know Demetri will keep an eye on her and she might OD "where are we?"

"My home" getting out of the car, she followed me inside "do you drink? Or are you..."

She nods her head "I drink, I am a drug addict not an alcoholic"

"I have a guest room you can stay in" I tell her, going to the living room where Felix and Demetri are playing video games "and this is my baby daddy and his brother"

She lets out a bit of laughter "Wow..."

"Here" giving her a glass of bourbon "no offense but if you can only drink that and nothing else, I'll believe you're not an alcoholic. Apologies but"

"No" shaking her head "I understand"

"Guys this is Amelia" introducing them "Amelia this is Demetri and Felix" they look her way and I see Felix's eyes are black "I've got to get going but Demetri" he follows me out of the room "keep an eye on her, Derek is her brother and he told her some unkind things so now she might try to" motion to offing herself.

"Alright" he nods his head "how are you and the babies?"

"We are okay" placing a hand on my belly smiling, only a couple more months and then they are our "also we are going to Bella's wedding"

"We are?" He asks

The wedding is in a few weeks and Bella sent wedding invites to me "Yes" briefly kissing him "get a tux, your going to love what I have in store"
