Thirty Four

"I can't believe we have to go to this" Demetri keeps me steady even though he doesn't have to but wants to, we are all dressed up since after a month of reporting to Child Services about the danger Claire is in. I'm here as a character witness.

"Don't you want to see people suffer?" He asks

A smile forms on my lips, looking at him I give him a soft quick kiss. Looking back at the courthouse, we walk inside going past the wolf shifters and all of them. We even see Claire's parents here, her mother is sorrow and six months pregnant. See they might not just loose Claire but also their unborn baby. From what I know, Emily and her brother are on bad terms. Many people hate Emily and Sam.

Going to the courtroom, I see the judge that will most likely side with me. I don't hate the parents, they are innocent but I want that Sam to suffer since he not only threatened me but my children as well. That he'd have my children taken away from me if I don't help, so he's going to pay.

Sitting down, Demetri has his arm wrapped around my waist and his hand is on my belly. The babies kick and we smile looking down at my belly, the babies recently started to kick.

After ten minutes, we hear the judge being called "All rise for Judge Calloway!" We stand up and then sit down after a moment when the female judge comes in.

I don't really pay any attention since both lawyers are just giving their opening statements, when witnesses are called forth it's the parents first then Sam and Emily. Next is me, going up to the stand "I promise to speak the whole truth and nothing but the truth"

"Dr. Morningstar" the parents lawyer Mr. Svensson walks over "why did you call Child Services?"

"Technically I wasn't the one" motioning to Alex who is also here "I was talking with my colleague Dr. Alex Karev who is going to be a peds surgeon, he called"

"Nonetheless why did you call?" He asks

"At the bonfire that I was invited to to listen to some old tribe stories" I inform him "I found reason to believe that Claire Young was being put in danger. See I found out from what little I heard how they're going to raise Claire Young to be a child bride to a sixteen year old, that she'll be happy when she's older. When I brought up how concerning this was to the elders since maybe they'd see sense, I was told by them that they were okay with it"

"That is a lie!" That San stands up and objects

The judge bangs his gavel down "Sit down now"

Sam is pulled down "from what I understand, the parents have been letting their daughter stay with that cult leader Sam Uley"

"What exactly" he asks "makes him the cult leader?"

"Besides being a horrible influence?" I ask "my cousin informed me along with others from the town of Forks is that every child that is under eighteen that is with Sam was normal and happy one day and then became angry the next and then they started to skip school and coke back all buffed as if they took drugs. Specifically steroids"

"Is it true" he asks "that you tortured a young boy?"

"I have no idea what you're talking about" shaking my head.

"I'm referring" he says "to when you tortured Jacob Black?"

The pack looks smug but I don't show any emotion "I have no idea what your speaking about, when I was last near him he was talking about killing himself when he heard how a girl he had a crush on is getting married. My uncle told me how after Jacob Black went into the cult that he became more violent and that his dad became worried about him. Also my cousin told me that the boy was worried and didn't like the way Sam Uley was looking at him"

"Your honor" looking at the judge "my clients aren't the problem but Sam Uley, he is the common denominator"

Going back down to my seat, after another thirty minutes the judge speaks up "After much thought, I have come to the conclusion that the parents of Claire Young shall retain their parental rights" they sigh relieved "on the condition that they cut all ties with Sam Uley and Emily Young. From what I understand Sam Uley is the real problem, he shall be sent to prison for child endangerment and abuse"

"What?! No!" He is grabbed and handcuffed, being given his Miranda rights. He fights them off and we watch how he acts, when he is tased down unconscious is he taken away.

"Sam!" Emily cries "please!"

"Along with Emily Young" she is horrified as she's being handcuffed.

"Does anyone have anything to say?" After some time this shrink Dr. Andrew Perkins, he was brought in to talk to us and clear us for surgery "I know that a lot of you are only here because this has been mandated. So let's talk" no one does "anything at all?"

"When I was five I had a bullet be shot near me" everyone looks my way "my dad wanted me not to be afraid of bullets, so as part of my training I learned how to use guns and be shot at so I wouldn't be afraid"

"You were five" someone asks "when this happened?"

Nodding my head "My dad even paid a warden that was overseeing someone on death row" I remember the first person I killed "I was handed a Glock G17 and then I raised it to the man, shot him and I remember the light leaving his eyes. Normally the person has their head covered but he didn't and I watched as the man looked at me expectantly. The gun shot was loud, his head flew back a bit and I stumbled back since the shot was harder than normal.  Blood started to pool beneath him and my dad told me he was proud of me" looking around the room "after many years it just becomes numb and you don't really care if a person dies under your watch. It's life"

"I ate a taco" Cristina tells us "last night, I ate a taco"
