Forty Nine

Ruby is sleeping as Jasmine is sleeping, we're given paternity and maternity leave. Talon and CeCe are in school, Joanna is at preschool which breaks Ruby's heart since it always does. The twins are taking their nap which is yeah...this is a whole new dynamic for us.

I get out of bed when I hear the doorbell ring, when I answer it. It's Jorge Castillo, he's this billionaire who has his own personal hitman. He has black hair with some white, tan skin and black eyes. For a man in his sixties he looks surprisingly like someone in his late forties "Hello, can I help you with something?"

"I want my granddaughter" he says, tilting my head to the side "I'm Jasmine's grandfather, Jorge Castillo" he hands me some papers "sign over the custody rights of my granddaughter to me and nothing bad will happen"

He watched as I rip up the papers "I know who you are Jorge Castillo, you also know that my wife is a Morningstar and I'm a Volturi" his heart races a bit "your daughter Laurel willingly signed over her rights to me and my wife. You can be in Jasmine's life as her grandfather but to have custody rights? No"

"You can't keep my granddaughter from me" he warns

"Get off my property" ordering him "or else" he leaves the property, closing the door after I've seen he's left. I could have killed him but I didn't, why? Who knows if he has people watching him or me. That man plays dirty.

"Yes, Jorge Castillo did visit" it's been about a month and now, we're in court to determine custody over our daughter with her grandfather "I offered for him to see her but he has the intention of taking her, not visiting her" our friends are here to help testify that were suitable parents, Laurel is even here to give her testimony.

"Dr. Night" Jorge's lawyer asks "is it true you haven't been apart of your son's life or his mother's life until he was ten?"

"I didn't know he existed" I say

"Why?" She asks

"Objection" our lawyer asks "relevance?"

"The fact that Dr. Night hasn't been in his own son's life till he was ten" she says "and the fact that Dr. Morningstar's own daughter left a few months after he arrived leading to her losing custody for over a year?"  I notice CeCe look down ashamed.

"I'll allow it" the judge looks at me "Dr. Night?"

"My wife's ex husband had just died" I tell them "for years I've been looking for her, I didn't know why she left until she told me it was because of my ex. I had no idea she was pregnant, when I found out I begged to be in her life and my son's. I could have gotten lawyers involved but I loved her too much to put her through the pain, I also knew she still loved me so I just needed to take my time and regain her trust. Regarding my stepdaughter Constance? She was a child who just lost her dad and was grieving, so my entrance wasn't ideal but I don't blame her. Yes custody was lost but after much needed therapy, we got custody back and Constance came back"

"What if Jasmine runs off like Constance did?" She asks "what would you do?"

"CeCe was seven when this happened" I remind the lawyer "she wanted her dad, the only reason you're bringing up CeCe is because you want to compare what she did with what could happen. Jasmine's mother told me and my wife that she never wanted her father to be apart of her child's life, I offered him a silver branch to be her grandfather but he didn't want that. Let me ask you: What kind of man is Jorge Castillo if his own daughters wanted him far away from their children?"

"No further questions" the lawyer says

Next is my mate who is being asked a series of questions about her job and everything "Dr. Morningstar" Jorge's lawyer asks "what happened in Rio, Brazil? Why was DSS Agent Luke Hobbs after you and put you on the FBI's most wanted list?"

"Objection" my lawyer objected "relevance?"

"Whether or not she's a danger to those around her" the lawyer answers

"I helped my friends Dominic Toretto, Mia Toretto and Brian O'Conner steal over a billion dollars" she says "from a man who wanted to turn Mia into a sex slave and kill Dominic and Brian. Over two hundred cops died, corrupted cops who agreed with the way Hernan Reyes was running things. I was on the FBI's most wanted list because Hobbs wanted to put Dominic in jail"

"She just admitted to killing two hundred people" looking at the judge "how can my client just sit around knowing that a dangerous woman is raising his granddaughter?"

"How old were you when you and your husband met?" The lawyer asks

Narrowing her eyes on her "My husband is not a pedophile" looking at the judge "I lied to my husband about my age, I was sixteen when we met. I also had a Fake ID, and it's kind of calling the pot kettle black don't you think Mrs. Tanner?"

"What do you mean?" She asks

"Your judging my husband and making him out to be a criminal" she says "when your having relations with a fourteen year old boy" people gasp as the lawyer objects to the statement "your son's best friend no?"

"Order!" The judge orders "Dr. Morningstar, that is some accusation"

She shows the judge her phone "I hired a PI since" she tells us "since Talon told me that one of his friends older sister's saw her friend making out with an older woman who matches this woman's description"

"Judge Calloway" the lawyer argues "this is a lie, slander"

"I am calling for a short recess" the judge bangs the gavel "I need to look this all over and Mrs. Tanner for your sake, you better hope these are just accusations and not true"
