Thirty Eight

|Demetri's POV|

"You did amazing" Ruby looks my way smiling, the twins are sleeping right now in our arms. Anastasia in mine and Nicholas in Ruby's. It'll take some time calling RJ, Ruby but I think in time it'll be as easy as breathing.

"They are so beautiful" Ruby tears up a bit "oh god, this reminds me of when I had Talon and you weren't there even though I wanted you there but..."

"I'm here now" placing my hand on her shoulder, sitting down in the chair next to the bed the door opens to Meredith who brings in the kids. Joanna who is in Meredith's arms is babbling and pointing to the twins.

"They are so tiny" CeCe whispers looking at Anastasia from the bed and then to Nicholas.

Talon stands next to me "Want to hold your baby sister?" Whispering to him, he nods his head and I carefully hand Anastasia to him.

Looking over CeCe sits in my lap as she holds her hands out "Give" Ruby chuckles as Meredith placed Joanna on the bed while she moved Nicholas to CeCe, Joanna crawls up to Ruby and rests her head on her chest while o help CeCe hold Nicholas carefully "Hi Nico"

"Isn't his nickname Nick?" Meredith whispers

"I like Nico" CeCe proclaims "and according to me by me my baby brother is going to be nicknamed Nico" we are all amused as CeCe whispers over and over "Nico" to the baby.

Amelia and Felix enter the room next "Oh my god" Amelia looks down at the twins "they are so adorable, may I?" Ruby nods her head and Talon hands Anastasia to him.

"That's Anastasia" Talon tells her "that's Nicholas aka Nico"

"They are so beautiful" Amelia smiles looking at the babies "and such beautiful names"

"Thank you" Ruby smiles, people come by and greet us and see the twins briefly before leaving. Felix told us how after we left, Bella and her parents were taken to the hospital in Forks before being brought here since some of the best surgeons work here. Bella has internal bleeding while her dad has something with his heart and her mother is brain dead.

"Nancy is here" Meredith comes in here as the twins are now in the nursery while Felix brought the kids home, I'm staying here to be by RJ—I mean Ruby's side.

"Nancy?" I ask "who's that?"

"Derek's and Amelia's sister" The girls both say, Ruby gets comfy when Meredith joins Ruby on the bed "have you talked to her?"

"Briefly" she says looking at her belly that has begun to show "she congratulated me and then asked how I was doing, after brief chit chat she went in search for Amelia. I think I'm ready to have Derek back"

"Are you sure?" Ruby asks

Nodding her head "Alright" Ruby looks my way "find Amelia, make sure she's alright"

"Alright" kissing her forehead then leaving, I find Amelia staring at a cabinet filled with pills and medication.

He's heart is beating hard "I want to take a pill so badly" she says "but if I take one, I know I'll take more and more...maybe Derek was right, maybe they were all right"

"Take my hand Amelia" she looks to my hand "Felix can help you"

"How can he help?" She asks

She has tears form in her eyes "Because he can" soulmates can help one another, that's one thing I've learned over the years.

Amelia takes my hand and I bring her out of the room, we go to find Felix who is talking with Nancy. They look our way and Felix comes over "What's wrong?" He demands

"Found her staring at a bunch of pills" I tell them "she didn't take any but she was close"

"Amelia?" Nancy looks at her sister worried "Amy?" She shakes her sister's shoulder and Amelia just stares in silence.

"Amelia look at me" Felix orders, Amelia does "your stronger than some pills, your strong. You're the strongest person I know—don't let what your stupid brother say get to you, you managed to not take any drugs for years. Don't start now"

"I'm tired" she says

"Then let's go home" Felix suggests "Lily is watching the kids" that answers that one question, I mean if Felix left them unattended I'd kick his ass.

"I'm coming with" Nancy says

|Felix's POV|

"How long have you and my sister been dating?" That Nancy asks me, Amelia once said how her sisters are wolves.

Amelia is upstairs sleeping, I'm keeping an eye on her by listening to her breathing and footsteps. So far Amelia is just sleeping, after being brought home I helped her get into her pajamas and then tucked her into bed.

"We aren't" shaking my head no "your sister and I aren't dating"

She tilts her head "Yet you act like she's your whole world" because she is, but I'm not going to tell her sister that "what do you do for a living Felix?"

"Business, primarily security but I do have a medical degree in trauma" I answer pouring some wine "want some?"

"Yes, please" she asks "interesting accent"

"I'm from Italy" pouring her the glass

"Italy" she smiles "lovely country, I went there with my husband for my honeymoon"

"Which part?" I ask

"Rome" shaking her head "we say the ancient ruins and tried gelato, it was amazing...are you dating anyone?"

Shaking my head no "I'm single, I use to be married" during my human days "she died"

"How awful" she says "children?"

"We had a daughter but she died" I told her "snake, rattle"

"I'm so sorry" she apologized "I don't think I could ever handle losing my child or spouse..." looking around the house "so do you help around or..."

"If your subtly asking me if I want a big family" sipping the wine "small or big it doesn't matter to me, if my future wife wishes for a large family then we shall have a large family and if we don't then we don't"

She smiles "Very romantic...you mentioned going to a wedding earlier with Amelia"

"Yes" nodding my head "My cousin's wedding, a distant cousin of my brother and mine's was marrying Ruby's cousin. The wedding was ruined by the rain and that it was found out that the groom hates children while the bride was pregnant with another man's baby then got struck by lightning"

"Oh!" She exclaims "how awful!"

"Not really" shaking my head no "it was very funny to watch"

"Oh" she lets out a nervous laugh, she then asks me the question I've been waiting for "If you and my sister aren't dating, then why do you care so much?"

"Because I know when someone is worth it" Answering her question "you and your family might see a broken person, someone who isn't able to redeem themself. You only see a druggie, that's it. That's all you and your other siblings see. I see a woman who has fought hard, has tried to prove not just to you and your family but to herself and the world that she isn't the same person who stole her brother's prescription pad, someone who has managed to stay sober of drugs for many years, someone who just now could have taken a bottle of pills from the pharmacy at the hospital but didn't. Since your brother told her that she was wished dead" that look of regret and shame fills her features "your sister has gone into a depression and the day after it was said she slit her wrists" she opens her mouth and her eyes widen in shock "but she didn't die as you saw, she is fighting for her life and fighting to live a life that is worth living. To me your sister, Nancy is a fighter. She isn't some weak pathetic girl you and your family see, she's a strong independent woman who has managed to keep herself from taking drugs. So when you go tell your sisters and mom about your sister, you tell them how you were wrong that she isn't off on some bender. That she isn't high. Instead she's sober and fighting to stay sober"
