I point the pistol at his back. He chuckles..... "Fe, fi, fo, fum I smell the cowardice of the englishman." He says in his Spanish accent. "We both know damn well I am Irish captain." I say as I load the gun. "That we do." He says as he throws his head back and swallows the rum. "We also both know you won't pull that trigger." He says as he turns around and looks me in my eye with his amber eyes. "Hello old friend. I knew you'd be here sooner of later." I look at the man who abandoned me for power. I should've known better. I look at his long blonde hair, it's not in a braid like it used to be, but that makes sense. His skin is still as tanned as it always has been, the beautiful dark colour, the rich dark colour of chestnut wood. Here you don't have problems with salty winds.
"I trusted you." I say, he smirks. "You still do, that is why you won't shoot me." "I was your slave, I did everything for you and you just left." "Did you expect anything else, you wanted me to leave, you said I was a bad captain and an arrogant man." "I was right." I say while I put the pistol down. "And I was right too. You won't shoot me. You will let them do the dirty work." He smiles, "You have turned into me Callahan. It suits you." I grab the pistol again. "Don't taunt me Esai, I know too much about you." I am surpised when he swiftly disarms me and break my arm with his knee. I scream in pain but he puts a dirty cloth in front of my mouth.
"You are mine Callahan." He whispers as he rips open my blouse, revealing the scars I have on my collarbone. He chuckles in a surprisingly innocent but unsettling way. "You know this" He says while tenderly touching the scars. "We both know you would turn into me, you were such a good student. How could you forget my teachings." "I am not a cruel bastard like you." "Cruelty makes me good at what I do." He says as he kisses me neck. I push him away. He smirks, "Well, it seems like the stage is calling." He says as he looks out of the window from the pub, the pub near the beach is surrounded by pirates. He smiles, not even a bit afraid of the death he is about to face. "Shall I go first cal? Or do you want to lead me into the crowd? Are you so proud of your new treasure?" He teases. I grab his collar and drag him (As far as you could call it dragging) out.
Years before
"And than the Kraken said fe, fi, fo fum, I smell the blood of an englishman! And Esai said, you would be dead wrong, he is Irish!" I say to my sister. She chuckles and twirls in the new dress I have given her. Today I am leaving again, Esai normally doesn't like visits, but he makes an exeption for me. I still don't know why. "I want to meet the captain!" she exclaims as she dances around. I smile, "Maybe one day, Caoimhe." She giggles and hugs me. I grab my bag and stand up. "I need to go Caoimhe." She smiles and hugs me. I pet her fiery red hair, I smile and hug her. Before kissing my mother and saying goodbye.
"You are late." He says as I run onto the deck of the corsair ship. I smirk, "Hoist the sails" He says as he walks towards the front of the ship.
I smell the salt and taste it in my mouth as I pull the rope with my bloody hands full of calluses, but we need that extra layer of protection, specially when we climb. The shanties are lively as the sun overheats our backs and we want to stop. But than the captain emerges I see his frustrated face. He takes off his jacket and blouse. Revealing the tattoo of our jolly roger, n eye with an upcoming sun, and his other tattoos. There have been whispers he comes from a warlock family because of his eyes and his elegant brightly coloured tattoos. He looks at the new sailors looking for his target for the day. He walk up to a young boy heaving. "I could do better with one hand." He says with a mean expression. He is right though, no one has taught this boy to sail properly. "You are not good at this, get into the crow's nest." The boy sputters. Esai looks at him. "I...I..I?" He mimics, "I am scared of heights." the boy says. "Even better! You'll need to learn eventually, just be sure not to fall." He says while he grabs the boy by his waits and put him of his shoulders as he begins to climb to the crow's nest. I chuckle. Esai can be rather strange, but he is a formidable sailor and climber. "Don't come down untill I say so" Esai says.
The sun is setting and the sea is very calm. "Why are you so mean to new ones Esai?" he chuckles and fiddles with his braid. "I call it tough love, they'll be formidable sailors once I am done and than I will be kind." "Why have you never done it to me?" "Because we both learned sailing from somebody else, on the same ship. You've been my friend through all of this. You decided you didn't want to be captian, otherwise you would be." I smile, he is right. "I love you" He whispers, I smile, I love him too.
One of the sailors scream. "A kraken." I look at the shadow in the water. Esai smiles, "That is not a Kraken! You should know that, we've seen one two months ago! This is no seamonster, this is a whale." "I doubt it" I say as I prepare the kraken equipment. He looks at me. "I will prove it." He says and he climbs up the prow. "What are you doing." "Proving it." He says while elegantly jumping into the water. All the pirates gasp and we run towards the shadow. There's a short silence. "Is he d-d-d-" "Dead? Probably" One of the others says. At that moment we see a whale jumping out of the water with a small figure on it's back. My eyes widen as I look at the reins of water. "Enough proof?" He screams as the whale jumps again.
Back to the present
His hands which are tied above his head are bloody as the pirates use him as a punching bag. I can't help but see his smile as he breathes heavily. Why is he still smiling, he is bleeding to death and he must me sore as hell. "It's warm in here. Will you do me a favour and take off my blouse?" He asks one of the crew. He looks at me and I nod. As they cut up his expensive silk blood stained shirt it reveals his familair tattoos. But on the middle of his chest there is a new one. My smile fades. It is a hourglass. "That's better." He says as the hourglass begins to glow with an orange light. "Get away from him" I scream as I run away but my man don't listen. I blink and all of a sudden the sand is black from ash and all my men who were too close are dead. He stand up, I look at the crown made of bone. "The prince of pirates..... But you promised." "You broke your's why would I keep mine? Let me tell you a secret," He whispers with a smile "pirates.......lie......"
I need to edit this a bit, but it could be a full length novel. Not sure yet.
