I'm going on a church retreat with a friend this weekend, so this post will have to last. It's been so long since we've heard a proper Marny story so here it is. Oh and the titles could really be any of the songs you'd find on the first search page on YouTube, but this one seemed to fit best.
Enjoy :)

Entry twenty eight:
Fairytale - The Story Continues (Both titles fit, so I just wrote both in). A Marny story for Dexter and his kids. Once Upon a Time (wink, wink, nudge, nudge) there was a young boy who didn’t know who he was supposed to be. His mother always told him that she had once been a countess, but when she had gone home to her mother after his birth along with his father she had been disowned. His uncle had replaced her as the next heir and the young boy’s family had been forced to find a new home.
At first they lived with his mother’s old tutor, but soon they had to leave as the mistress went back to be the nanny of her old charge’s younger brother. The family of three moved on to a small town where the boy’s father got a job as the stable master at the big manor house just outside the town.
Of course the whole family knew their way around horses. The boy had been raised around them his whole life. He had grown to love the beasts’ strength and warmth as he helped take care of them and learned to ride them. Being around horses was second nature to him. And so, one day he found that he was working as a stable boy, helping his father provide for his mother and two sisters at home.
The young boy’s name was Eachann (pronounced EE kun), which was the Gaelic word for horse lord (don’t ask me where Marny got this, but she claims it’s true). His parents had wanted his name to remind him of his heritage and he didn’t mind at all.
Eachann thought he had had a great childhood and it was only on certain days when he was feeling thoughtful that he wondered what life would have been like if his grandmother had given him a chance to live life as a noble. Most days he was glad he didn’t have to always mind his manners or worry about his clothes, but sometimes he wouldn’t have minded being the one who got to order people around and not have to muck any stalls.
His parents, Vivian and Daniel, always told their children that their family was the most important thing in the world to them and he believed them. He loved them all very much but he couldn’t wait to get out in the world and have adventures on his own.
One day the Lord of the manor house offered him the job of driving his children to their boarding school as his other two drivers had other errands to attend to. Accepting this job meant that he would only be able to see his family whenever the children needed to come home as he would become their driver.
At this point Eachann was sixteen years old and more than willing to live in the city. So with the permission of his parents he accepted the position. The children who were nine, twelve and fourteen respectively were overjoyed that they wouldn’t be driven around by one of the old grumpy men, but they did their best to cover up their reaction lest their father notice and change his mind.
The city where their school was, was the same city where Eachann’s grandmother and uncle, as well as his father’s family lived and he looked forward to meeting them all.
His aunts and grandparents from Daniel’s side were more than happy to let him into their house. They rejoiced at hearing news of their son and brother as it had been a few years since he had stopped by with his wife. They offered young Eachann accommodations in any of their houses as the elder daughters had married and started families of their own. He truly felt welcome with them.
The place his mother had called home was a different story though. The guards wouldn’t let him in because he wasn’t on the list. When he tried to get on the list the guards told him he had to talk to the family, which of course he couldn’t do because he wasn’t on the list. He tried to explain his relation to them, but none of the guards remembered such a girl as they had been hired since she had left.
