Blood is Thicker than Water? Not!

Deputy Director Silas Koech was immersed in an autopsy report about some deceased young women found at Msanii Lounge Bar_ an establishment located in Frontier City. His grey eyebrows were contorted together to a frown, expounding the wrinkles around his chocolate brown eyes. The report was very disquieting. Eight women in total were found dead with their bodies carelessly splayed on the leather seats, and completely drained of blood. The puncture wounds on their necks indicated they were bitten and sucked dry.

Yes, anyone would think the same thing. Were these women killed by a vampire? Then again, a vampire? Seriously? It was too dubious. However, Silas knew better. From his livid face he knew who and what killed those poor women.

Silas was one of the deputy directors of the State Criminal Investigative Corps (SCIC). This was Meilane's lead law enforcement agency tasked with overseeing the external and internal security of the country. They adeptly gather intel on any possible threat and act personally or hand in hand with the other nation's security forces to quell it. Whatever happened in Frontier City was no ordinary homicide. It was a threat to the national security.

"Fucking leeches..." Silas growled under his breath. "Alpha must put that vile queen and her hive of parasites in their place. Who do they think they are to come here and do as they please?"

At that moment, someone budged into his office and drew away his attention from the report. The intruder was a fairly young man_ probably in his late 20s. From the way Silas's eyebrows pushed further inwards to deepen the frown on his face, meant he did not fancy the interruption at all.

"Sir, we may have a problem," the young man said, only to quickly realize his blunder and apologize while rubbing the back of his neck with a rueful smile. "Yikes! Sorry, sir. Should've knocked..."

"What is it, Officer Maneno?" Silas could only ask with an aggravated sigh.

Without asking for consent, Officer Maneno rushed to Silas's side of the desk, took hold of his PC and inserted a flash drive. He did it unwittingly, but Silas wasn't pleased in the slightest. This lad didn't have any sense of adhering to personal boundaries. It was a habit that irked Silas.

"Well, go right ahead..." Silas grumbled at the subordinate.

Still clueless to what he had done, Officer Maneno quickly located the video file he intended to show his superior and reported after playing it, "This was taken last night at the downtown area in Vonza. Kong'o Lane to be specific."

The video was a street CCTV recording that showed a part of Kong'o Lane. The angle of the cam was apparently capturing the entrance to some local pub. As the video clip was playing, a grey Mitsubishi Pajero SUV could be seen pulling up near the establishment. Four masked thugs alighted in coordination and began shooting up the place. It was total chaos, and then the clip ended.

"What am I looking at?" Silas inquired for he was confused.

Officer Maneno explained, "Last night Mr. Josep Samoei was shot dead in the pub by those gunmen."

"Mr. Josep Samoei... Isn't he the...?"

"Yes. The bookkeeper for the Bazenga Gang." Officer Maneno answered.

"Well, damn it all! This has just kick started the gang war," Silas muttered with frustration.

Officer Maneno nodded back. "Seems so."

"Who was responsible?" asked Silas.

"Those four hitmen belong to the Blackrock Gang," Officer Maneno answered earnestly.
