Your Dearest, Mr. HWhen they departed, Sharael surprised Mia by taking the Bahati Lane. This went opposite from her expectations since, he always strolled into Kong'o Lane when going for his merriments. Where were they heading to? They entered the Kiongozi Tafash Road and drove eastwards. Fortunately, the traffic these sides had lessened considerably.
Unable to hold back, Mia asked, "This ain't the direction to your bar."
"Pfft! That's no proper place for my Princess." Sharael glanced at her weirdly and stifled a laugh.
"Oh, ok..." The girl's curiosity was sparked. "So, where are we going?"
Sharael gave her a playful smile and answered, "That's a surprise."
"Ugh! You and your surprises," Mia groaned.
"You will love it," he said with a chuckle.
Mia narrowed her eyes at him skeptically, but eventually beamed back. She trusted that he won't disappoint. Part of her was already anticipating the kind of surprise stowed. Would it be like the other time during her birthday?
Her eyes silently scanned the car's exquisite interior and then shot the bugging question, "Shar, tell the truth now. Where did you get this ride?"
"I already told you it was a gift."
However, the girl gave him a skeptical look. "Oh really now?"
Sharael looked affronted. "Does my Princess not believe me?"
"I do but..." She glanced around the car once more then gave him that look of 'who in their right mind would just gift you a Lamborghini?'
"Trust me, this was a gift from the General," he assured.
"The former Hon. General Barthwell? The one you used to work for as a watchman-- AAHHH!!" Mia inquired in amazement, only to shriek soon afterwards when Sharael almost lost control of the car. "Hey, be careful!"
"Watchman?!" Sharael, on the other hand, exploded while giving the girl a shocked look.
Mia quirked an eyebrow and said matter-of-factly, "Well, yes. Didn't you used to work part-time at the Estate's gate?"
"That was different," Sharael shot back and Mia tilted her head to the side with a frown, forcing him to explain. "I mean I wasn't just a watchman. I was the... doorman."
Sharael winced straightaway, knowing what he said made no difference. And as expected, Mia asked in confusion, "What's the difference?"
"... There's a difference. A very big one, okay?" he argued back stubbornly.
"Okay, Mister Doorman, if you say so." She nodded in understanding and gazed ahead.
Sharael couldn't believe this cheeky girl just pulled a pun on him. The ghost of a smile on her face easily gave her away. He glared at her jokingly, but she purposefully refused to meet his gaze. She even began humming to the song playing in the stereo, innocently. Sharael eventually shook his head laughing and clicked his tongue at her antics.
The drive lasted for over an hour as they ventured deeper into the suburbs area. Suddenly, Sharael took a certain rough road meandering westward. Various palm, coconut and mangrove trees lined the road sides, offering a canopy overhead and blinding the view of the surrounds, especially at this time of the dark. Mia would've been feeling antsy if she wasn't being driven here by Sharael.
Soon enough, she spotted some faint lights up ahead as they approached. When the venue came into view, the girl was straightaway gob smacked. Sharael had taken them to a resort, but it wasn't just any resort. It was one of the famous resorts in the city. The Blue Moon Beach Resort.
