Thy Rogue's Embrace

Kendi Street was one of the many streets in Vonza City. This street wasn't anything spectacular; however, it was where the Warda Apartments lied. The 5-storey building looked nothing close to being eye-catching. It was actually timeworn and in need of a proper revamp. It was here, in one of the smallest and shabbiest rooms on the fourth floor, where a young man was found sprawled on the bed snoring soundly.

The young man was Sharael.

After one whole eventful week that consisted of being branded the public enemy of Campus after rejecting the school's number one beauty, then getting kidnapped, and finally his football date with Mia that was again interrupted by the same beauty he rejected, he finally got some time to relax. Although it was a Monday, he had no classes that morning since the lecturer was held up with something and had to cancel on them. So, with no other plans in mind, he intended to sleep, eat, lazy around then sleep some more. His perfect combo for a perfect morning.

While Sharael was enjoying his sweet slumber, a sudden tremor underneath the pillow jostled him awake. It was his phone vibrating upon receiving a text message. Choosing to ignore it, he shifted to a more comfortable position and grunted low in content.

However, his phone became like a needy girl seeking attention and vibrated once more, then followed by another and another. They were like minor tremors quaking the pillow he had so firmly and comfortably slouched his head. His sweet sleep slowly faded away with every vibration.

Sharael abruptly snapped up awake and grumbled insults that could even shock a feisty African woman. He hostilely fished out his phone and scrolled down the notification bar ready to erupt at the fool loading up his inbox with texts. Upon seeing the sender, his mouth straightaway curled into the deepest scowl possible with a throbbing vein visibly stretched across his temple. Even with his tanned skin tone, anyone could easily tell his face was turning red from anger.

"What is this annoying girl texting me for? What line of I don't want to be disturbed doesn't she understand? Ruining my sleep this early morning like she has nothing better to do!" Sharael clicked his tongue and tossed away the phone.

He grumpily got out of bed, which creaked in protest over his weight, and dragged his feet across the untidy floor filled with his scattered previously worn clothes. All the way, his heaved exasperated sighs sounded within that small room.

He carried himself towards the window and drew open the fading indigo fabric curtains. A painful hiss soon escaped his lips as the bright sunlight hurt his droopy eyes. If this day couldn't start any worse. With another deflated sigh, he decided to go and shower as the sleep he was so enjoying was ruined by some idiot. All the while, he couldn't help lamenting at the long day ahead.

The morning was still fresh with the atmosphere around the city buzzing with excitement. It was all about the upcoming Concert. Every talks and discussions, be it in the social networks or any media outlets, were all about one person. The famous pop singer, Jazel.

The fan base was increasing day by day. It was like the country was already preparing for her arrival and more than a month still remained before the awaited D-day. It was total madness.

However, with all the excitement going around, only one person appeared not too thrilled. Sharael had the gloomiest face possible. He was mad at having his sleep deprived and this looming celebrated visitor.

"Annoyances after annoyances..." he grumbled while taking a shower.

After a quick dress up, he decided to take a stroll around town to cool off his agitated mind. Perhaps, the morning fresh air would do him justice. At that precise moment, just when he reached the stairs, another person happened to rush up and bump into him. Still aggrieved from the earlier misfortunes, Sharael was about to unleash his wrath upon the poor soul. But upon noticing who it was, he instantly bit his almost loose tongue.
