104. Cricket Vs Basketball

It had been a few weeks since the Raizadas returned from their vacation in Lucknow. Kids' schools were going on in full swing now. And the heat waves of March were marking the start of a hot summer in Delhi.

It also marked another special occasion. NK and Jasmeet (Jaz)'s wedding anniversary!

NK and Jaz were India for celebrating their 1st wedding anniversary and on their way to Punjab, they had stopped for 2 days in Delhi, at Raizada mansion! And they brought a lot of gifts for kids as well as for elders.

In short, it was a playful environment in Shantivan.

However, it was soon going to involve a playful competition as well...

It so happened that, after a heavy lunch, everyone was sitting in the hall and chitchatting on different topics.

Arnav was the first one to get bored of this 'chat session' with his brother and he switched the large television in the main hall of Shantivan. Browsing through channels, he somehow tuned to sports one and a game of basketball was going on. It caught Arnav's interest. After all, it had been years since he watched it, as most of the times Khushi got the remote before their kids came along and now, they monopolized TV watching! Even after he got one TV in their bedroom and another in kids', Chiku would use the one in kids' room while Aru-Pari or Khushi hijacked one in his bedroom and Arnav was rarely left to watch news or something he liked, like sports.

Today, he got that chance, and he started watching. This was after all his favorite sport during college time at Harvard.

But he forgot that he wasn't that 22-year-old bachelor single boy now, he was 38-39, married and father of 3! And his wife and mainly kids decided what he watched.

"Papa, next channel lagao na, uspe India Vs Australia ka cricket match chal raha hai (Papa, please play next channel, it has Ind Vs Aus's cricket match)." came a demand from Kavish.

Before he could hesitate, NK already snatched remote and played the channel, "Thanks for reminding, Chiku! I totally forgot about it!"

"Chachu aap kisko support kar rahe ho (who are you supporting)?" Chiku asked, while Arnav watched the duo with an expression that read, 'unbelievable!'

"Of course, I am in Team India." NK said, "But your chachi is in Team Australia." NK scoffed looking at Jaz and she too made a face returning his taunt engaging in playful banter.

Arnav had enough and snatched the remote back and went to his previous channel where basketball was on, "You guys decide which team you want to support, let me watch till then."

"Hey! You can't do this, mate!" NK said with typical Australian accent.

"I agree with him." Jaz said, "Cricket IS the sport, everything else is boring."

"Yay! Hi-five chachi." Chiku said and looked at his papa with a winning smirk, much like Arnav himself!

And thus started a big debate in Raizada mansion about which sport was more fun, more tough, cricket or basketball!

Akash was on Arnav's side. He too had played basketball in his college team. Piya liked cricket but she went on this team for her Papa! And for her, mami ji too joined that team and said basketball was better!

Pari, who was sitting on her papa's lap, clapped when Arnav cleverly asked her if she was with him, "Angel, you are with me right?" and she gave a sweet smile indicating her approval!

Nk, Jaz and Chiku were in for cricket already. Mamaji too joined this team as he always liked cricket, just like Arnav's nana ji (mama ji's father).
