92. Arnav-Khushi and Surrogacy! -2

There are many nuances involved in surrogacy, often not known properly. So, please read with an open mind.

"Do you also think I am wrong, Nani ji?" A grim looking Khushi was asking Nani, while Mami ji, and Payal were also sitting around her, consoling her. They had heard loud voices from Arnav-Khushi's bedroom and after they sent kids out with Mamaji, Akash took Arnav away from the house while the ladies were trying to understand the issue from Khushi.

And what they heard had stunned them.

Neha was facing fertility issues, and she and Ashwin were exploring different options to have a child they both wanted. However, when all their efforts to naturally have a child seemed futile their doctor suggested them one option- surrogacy. The doctor explained that there are 2 types of surrogacy, full and gestational. In full surrogacy, the sperm of the intended father is implanted in surrogate mother's womb and since it's her egg, surrogate has genetical connection to the baby. While in gestational surrogacy both sperm and egg are of the intended couple while the fertilized embryo is implanted in surrogate's womb, so she has no genetic connection. Since Neha had healthy eggs, the doctor suggested them gestational surrogacy so Neha and Ashwin will be biological parents. Still, the idea at first was hard to digest for both. Ashwin had insisted on not needing a baby if Neha cannot carry it, but Neha had argued saying she wanted her own baby, and if this was a way, then why not.

After Ashwin reluctantly agreed for it, the thought to look for a woman who would give them their biggest gift had started. And Neha's mind immediately showed her Khushi's face. She had seen what an amazing woman, a dedicated mother Khushi was. Her kids were her world. Khushi's entire being seemed to revolve around the 3 beautiful kids she had given birth to. And Neha couldn't help wishing Khushi to be the woman to carry her and Ashwin's baby, Khushi's love and blessings would make their child the luckiest! As they were opting for gestational surrogacy, it would be Neha's egg and Ashwin's sperm fertilized outside and then implanted in the surrogate mother's womb, thus baby's biological parents would be Neha and Ashwin. However, surrogate mother will have connection of love, dreams and care with Neha's baby, something a mother like Khushi could do!

And Neha called Khushi as soon as the thought came to her mind, so excited her emotionally elated heart was. She hadn't paused to discuss with anyone, neither was she aware of Khushi's own complicated medical history regarding pregnancies.

And as a mother herself, Khushi felt her heart go out to Neha. She felt related to Neha's pain, neha's wish for her own baby, her own piece of heart, and Khushi had not paused to think anything except wanting to help her.

However, the first opposition happened when she came home in those thoughts and shared it with Arnav at first.

"You are not doing this, am I clear?" he had said in a dangerously low, menacing voice.

"But, Arnavji ek baar puri baat sun toh lijiye(just listen to the whole thing once)." She held his hand, which he immediately freed.

"No, Khushi. There's nothing to listen to and definitely nothing to think about. This is not your life alone. You are my wife, and if you remember, you have 3 kids of YOUR OWN who have more rights over you! You are not some charity piece, dammit!" his voice raised towards the end.
