Chapter 43 - Corruption

   "...So you're telling me that it's a corrupted backup?" I nodded to Moon. "I looked up more files on it and it was supposedly overly violent. Instead of it activating in only emergencies, the littlest things could make it go off and attack."

Moon stayed quiet. I put a hand on his shoulder, "Well I might be able to get rid of it! And then you—" He slowly moved my hand off of his shoulder.

"You don't get it..." He looked away. "A v—v—vi—rus like—" I accidentally cut him off with my worried face. "Are you alright?" He chuckled and nodded slowly, "It's normal when I talk about the V word" I sighed, "Sorry, continue."

"A V-V—Vi-ir—rus like that isn't just removable... it's built into our code. They programmed it wrong and tried to hide that piece of code but it made its way into my AI..."

I didn't speak a word. He was basically telling me that no matter what I did, he would never be the original Moon again, or at least, not for very long. But for some odd reason, I was completely fine with that.

Eventually after a very long silence and Moon staring at the floor, it had to have been at least 5 minutes even though it felt like hours, I spoke. "Moon... Even if we can't remove the V... the thing... I'll be there for you..."

Moon looked up at me and it made a small smile appear on my face. "Even if we can't fight it, I'll help you... maybe even use it as a strength rather than weakness...? I can help you to control it!"

It was silent again. This time for only a few seconds before Moon burst out into laughter. I chuckled nervously, not at all getting why Moon was laughing so hard.

"Moon...? What's so funny...?" I asked. He finally calmed down enough after a few minutes to talk, "I just think it's funny how you're so persistent with shit like this. You do not let things go..." He said with another laugh.

I smiled softly. He looked a bit happy. Seeing him sad made me feel bad. But... when he's happy... I feel good, better than ever... and it's the same with Sunny too...
