Jungkook stared at his phone, nervously tapping his foot as he waited for Y/n to pick up. After a few rings, she finally answered.

"Hey, Jungkook," Y/n's voice came through the phone, sounding slightly tired.

"Hey, Y/n! How are you?" Jungkook asked, trying to sound casual.

"I'm okay, just a bit busy with work," Y/n replied, her voice soft.

"I see. Hey, I was wondering if you'd like to come to my football match this weekend? It's a big game, and it would mean a lot to me if you could be there," Jungkook said, his heart pounding in his chest.

There was a brief pause before Y/n spoke again. "I'm sorry, Jungkook, but I don't think I can make it. I have a lot of work right now, and I don't want to make any promises I can't keep."

Jungkook felt a pang of disappointment, but he tried to hide it. "Oh, it's okay, I understand. Maybe next time then."

"Yeah, definitely. I'll try to make it up to you," Y/n said, her voice apologetic.

The line went dead on the other side indicating that phone was hung.

Y/n stared at her phone, her heart sinking as the call with Jungkook abruptly ended. She felt a pang of guilt and sadness wash over her, knowing that she had just turned down his invitation to his football match. As she stared at the blank screen, her wallpaper flashed before her eyes - a picture of her and Jungkook from a year ago, smiling brightly at the camera.

Tears welled up in Y/n's eyes as she remembered the happier times they had shared. She reached out and touched the screen, tracing Jungkook's face with her finger. The memory of that day flooded her mind - the warmth of the sun on her skin, the sound of Jungkook's laughter, the way he had looked at her with such affection.

Could anyone really blame her for falling for the guy? It's hardly possible.

Feeling a lump forming in her throat, Y/n quickly locked her phone and kept it away, trying to push down the rising emotions.

She knew she couldn't let herself get too attached, couldn't let herself fall in love with Jungkook.

She had tried to distance herself, to protect her heart, but it seemed that her efforts were in vain.

But the pain in her chest was becoming unbearable. She felt as though a thousand needles were piercing her heart, each one a reminder of the unrequited love she harbored for Jungkook.

She rushed to the washroom, her breath coming in short gasps.

Bent over the sink, Y/n coughed violently. Petals of flowers mixed with blood spilled out of her mouth, landing in the sink in a colorful, yet horrifying display. She could taste the bitterness of the petals, a bitter reminder of her unrequited love.

Y/n wiped her mouth, tears streaming down her face. She knew what this meant - the hanahaki disease was taking its toll on her. She had heard of the disease before, had seen its effects on others, but she never thought she would be its victim.

'Is this my reward for loving him so selflessly?', she thought as a tear dropped down her eyes and

[A few days later]

Jungkook sat at his desk, scrolling through his phone. He hesitated for a moment before typing out a message to Y/n. "Hey, Y/n, I was thinking maybe we could grab dinner this weekend?" He hit send and waited anxiously for her response.

A few minutes passed before Y/n replied. "I'm sorry, Jungkook, but I have plans this weekend. Maybe some other time?"

Jungkook felt a pang of disappointment, but he replied with a smiley face. "No worries, maybe next time!"
