Smut ahead.

**

I was still sat on the ground when McGonagall and Snape stopped by us. I dragged the palm of my hand across the fabric off my skirt, wincing slightly as I watched little pebbles roll off. Holding them open in front of me I grimaced at the red skin, and the little dents the pebbles had left.

Honestly I was perplexed no one had offered to help me up by then. Instead the professors towered over me, giving me a bitter look of judgement. I knew they thought me more involved than I actually had been — as if they weren't surprised to see me there.

I sensed a hint of disappointment in Snape's eyes as he flexed his hand when our eyes met. His lips were tight too, and it was hard to believe they felt so soft when engaged... in a kiss.

I parted my lips to speak, wanting to actually defend myself. Finding the situation a little unfair. But in the wake of my own words came Granger's.

«Professor McGonagall, I-»

Snape lifted a hand to stop her while shushing her, his eyes abruptly leaving mine, «we were told there was a fight going on between Zabini and Weasley», he explained in his monotone voice, sounding bored out of his mind, «then tell me, Granger, why are the two of you here?», he pointed to her and then to me, «get up, Miss Lovegood», he then hissed. It was a show I reminded myself, but his look was so cruel I hardly believed it.

I pushed my brows together and muttered a few words under my breath as I proceeded to help myself up.

Granger's sweet voice then began again, «Professor Snape, the boys-»

«No», McGonagall stopped her, «that's not what he asked, Miss Granger. Kindly answer the question».

She swallowed hard and looked at me with disgust, raising her chin, «well, I-»

I let out a deep sigh and decided not to let her taint my name, «I was literally trying to stop their stupid fight, and then she tried to stop me».

Weasley side-eyed his opponent as he reached up to gently touch the little wound at the corner of his lips. In fact, it was so small it could hardly be called a wound. Blaise, on the other hand, wiped his bloody nose with the sleeve of his shirt, and McGonagall shook her head in disbelief and disappointment, «Severus, I'll take the boys to see Poppy. And I'll deal with them then. You speak to the girls, alright?», she quickly suggested as she gave the Slytherin boy a tissue.

Snape barely nodded as his eyes darted between me and the curly haired Gryffindor.

I glared over at Blaise who looked apologetic by the notice of my reddened cheek as he walked away with the redhead and the cat-witch. I clutched to my cheek and felt the skin hot under my fingertips. I wasn't sure he felt bad, or if he was simply embarrassed by it all. Perhaps it was both.

«Miss Granger-»

Somehow the girl gathered the courage to interrupt Professor Snape, «no, but she...», she pointed to me, «she...».

I rolled my eyes, «I pulled her skirt down but it was just an accident», I explained. But the look on his face made it seem like he did not believe me at all.

Granger wanted to protest, but Snape stopped her once again, «do me a favor, girls», he spoke slowly, «do not involve yourself with impudent behaviour — I expect more from you. Now, listen carefully», he continued, «I will take ten points from each of your houses, and you will both write me an essay on stupidity. No questions. I trust you know exactly what I speak of. I want to see them on my desk tomorrow. And you hand them in together. Side by side. Is that clear?».
