10 years later.

The King's Arms Pub, West-London.

«One or two?»

The music blared. I felt my ear drums stirr as I fought a yawn.

«Leo», he nudged my shoulder.

«Huh?», I turned to him, squeezing my bag to make sure it was still there.

«One or two shots, babe?», he asked, a grin plastered across his face as he downed the rest of his beer. I forced a smile and lifted a single finger, which apparently made him laugh.

«What?», I asked louder, the music disrupting our conversation.

«You're such a partypooper, babe», he replied, but went on to order a set of six shots. I rolled my eyes and didn't even bother to see which type this time.

Then someone grabbed my waist and pulled me closer, softly squealing in my ear, making me laugh. «Get off Mary», I chuckled, shoving her drunken state off of me.

«Oh, Leo», she breathed, «you should've joined me dancing».

I shook my head, «dancing in a pub like this is the last thing I'd like to do. Besides, the music isn't... right».

Mary pouted and lifted her shoulders, «you never like the music when we're out Leo. Not even the drinks. Why?», she complained.

I sighed, «it's fine. I'm having fun, alright?», I grinned and let her hug me again. She reeked of vodka, but I was used to it. I'd known her for three years, and she'd always been a party animal.

«Here you go», he returned with the shots, handing me two when I specifically asked for one. I frowned and put one back on the counter.

«Just one», I said, earning a frustrated groan from him. This made the drunken girlie next to me giggle and hiccup.

«I'll have some», she volunteered with a happy squeal.

«Perfect», I replied, sipping on the one in my hand. It just wasn't the same.

«See! Mary knows what's up», he grinned, «cheers Mary».

I huffed and rolled my eyes as they clinked their glasses, «maybe you should've dated her instead then», I muttered and put my drink down behind me, careful to hide it behind someone's glass, lest he see I didn't finish it.

He snaked an arm around my waist, «don't be silly, Leo. You know I love you».

Smiling at him, I looked to the floor and decided not to reply. Instead I focused on the bag in my hand, the one that held my wallet and the key to our flat.

Once the two of them finished the shots they dragged me through the busy pub to find a seat, but when we found none I suggested we'd call it a night. But seeing as they'd only just begun their round of shots they weren't so happy about that.

And so I followed them out into the cold London night, on the search for a pub less crowded.

Mary had somehow found herself a man on the way out, one of which she'd linked arms with. They stumbled behind us as we roamed the streets.

«What about here?», I suggested, pointing to a random pub, but they all rejected the suggestion immediately. I wasn't sure why, but I decided to leave the decisionmaking to them then.
