Smut ahead.

Snape and I were close enough that the heat from his coat seeped through my dress. One of his arms still lingering at my waist.

His profile was rigid beside mine, but not with anger. If I wasn't wrong, he seemed... nervous.

McGonagall's gaze darted to my hand on him, his on me, and then back to his face. Her brow lifted, as though she was still trying to figure out whether her eyes were lying to her.

«Severus...» she said slowly.

The sound of his name from her seemed to unnerve him. I felt the faintes shift in his stance. His thumb brushed once against my hip before he withdrew — but his arm did not leave me entirely.

«Minerva,» he drawled.

Again she looked at us quietly. I imagined her flipping through old memories. From the last times she saw me, if she had ever seen me in here, and about the way she'd known him all these years — then comparing it to what she was looking at now.

When her gaze finally settled once more, this time on me, it softened. Just a little. «Well,» she murmured, «this is unexpected».

I could feel the tension humming through him at my side, but not as badly as when we'd talked to Lupin. Without thinking, I gave his hand a squeeze.

«Huh, that's exactly what Remus said,» I smiled sarcastically and looked up at him, «what are the odds?»

Snape did not find me as funny as I did, so all I got was a grunt in response. I wasn't sure if that was how he really felt or if being back at Hogwarts had soured him.

With the awkward silence and lingering tension I took it upon myself to attempt to clear the air — again. Still holding the biscuit, however, I slowly took a bite before giving McGonagall another smile.

«I suppose it is,» I said, nodding. «It's nice to see you, though.»

McGonagall let out a huff and stormed toward us, I backed away immediately, but noticed it wasn't me she was aiming for. Her hands went to cup Snape's cheeks. This made me bite back a laugh. His cheeks reddened immediately and I could see his nostrils flaring. He didn't like that.

«I never thought I'd see you in love,» she unexpectedly squealed in happiness, then her eyes darted to me, «blink twice if he's forced you here, my dear.»

«She forced me,» Snape cut in, a silent drawl as he grabbed her hands and pried her off of him.

My brows shot up then, «really? Forced you? Persuaded maybe, yes. But I never forced you, you grumpy man.» I rolled my eyes and went to lift my bag onto the bed, unzipping it to find my outfit for the night. Letting them... well, reunite.

McGonagall looked at him in such awe I wondered if they had always had this form of relationship. She seemed like a proud mum. Somehow I felt a little sad I hadn't noticed it before. But I hadn't really been known for caring about much else than my very own bubble.

«By Merlin's beard, I don't think I've ever seen the two of you having gotten along,» she said, resting her hands on her hips, shooting glances between us, «and so all it took was ten years of maturing... Severus
