After we had spoken, I fell asleep next to him however what it felt like only a few minutes of sleep. I woke up to the sound of children going to school. I rubbed the sleep out of my eyes and sat up in bed before getting up and walking over to the window to open the curtains.

As I walked down the stairs, I saw a note on the kitchen table. It read:

"Hey baby, just to let you know that I've got work today. So I'll be out for a few hours. I was thinking about the oven, and if you want I can show you how it works later tonight. For now, I hope you have a good day. I love you, hun, talk to you later."

He kissed the end of the note with red ink, and there was a red rose on the page, a beautiful gesture.

As I read the note, I walked over to the kitchen to make myself a bowl of cereal before seeing the house phone left on the kitchen counter, it wouldn't hurt to try and call him when he was at work. So I stopped making my cereal picked up the house phone and started to dial in random numbers until it started to ring. "Crap," I said to myself as I held the phone to my ear.

I heard a click, and I realised he answered. He sounded a bit distracted, which was understandable. He sounded slightly busy, I could still hear the sound of papers moving in the background.

"Hey, sweetheart. What do you need?" He seemed to be talking to someone else at the same time.

"Holy- It worked. I don't know how to use the phone," I said proudly.

He smiled with surprise, then laughed a little with happiness.

"You don't know how to use a phone?" He chuckled and smiled at the same time, his heart was filled with joy and laughter. "Why is it that I find you so damn adorable and hot all the time." He paused briefly, sounding slightly distracted, but I could still hear him smiling.

"I can hear you smiling through your words, when do you finish?" I asked.

"Soon sweetheart,".

I heard the sound of papers sliding and some words in the distance, indicating that he was in a meeting.

"You have a short day?"

"Yeah, I don't have too much work to do today. So I have an early finish."

I continued to hear the paper sounds and some more words, indicating he was still in the meeting. He was still smiling, it wasn't just his tone of voice that I could hear the smile.

"I can go if you want, sounds like you're busy,".

"No, no, sweetheart, it's not an issue. As I said, it's a short day for me, I just have a meeting to finish and I'm done."

I heard a few more paper sounds and then I heard his keyboard clicking. Then there was a small pause with no sound, and then it started to click again. I realised he was writing something new.

"It's nice not being a patient anymore,".

He laughed slightly and spoke again.

"You know, the staff often asks me what's so special about you. And I just reply with, she's so hot and cute, and also extremely sweet." He continued to laugh slightly, and then I heard his keyboard click again.

"You may be right, I swear you were the only one who liked me in that facility,".

He smiled in response, and he typed again, taking a short pause.

"I definitely am right, sweetheart. And if I'm being honest, I'm the only one who gets to enjoy your company in that bed too." He continued to type and click again.

"I know you're thinking wildly,".

"You know me too well, sweetheart. You were very beautiful last night, you know that, don't you?" He laughed, his words being punctuated by more keyboard sounds and typing.

"Sometimes I don't think of myself like that,".

Another small laugh, he was still typing and clicking.

"You should, you're absolutely gorgeous. I love the way you look in the morning, that messy hair and your eyes, the look you give me as I slowly wake you up, I love taking care of you, and your natural sweetness. You're absolutely beautiful, honey."

His tone of voice was soft and gentle, as he continued typing and clicking.

"You're only saying that because you're my boyfriend,".

"It's definitely not why, sweetheart. Even if we weren't dating, I would still think the same thing." He paused momentarily, he had finished typing, and there was a short break of silence before he spoke.

"Honey, I meant what I said last night," I heard the keyboard start clicking again as he spoke.

"Well.. thank you,".

"You're welcome."

He smiled and took a long pause, I could still hear him typing.

"Sweetheart, how about when I finish, I can show you how the oven works. Then, after that, you can spend the remaining hours of the day with me. I wanna make another dinner for you, if you don't mind of course. If not, there's plenty we can do that isn't food." He continued to type and clicked, I noticed that he was typing quite slowly now.

"Yeah I would love that, did you bring your keys with you?"

He laughed slightly as he finished typing, and after a few clicks, he responded.

"I forgot them at home. I just needed to go over some paperwork. I'll be home in two hours at most."

He paused for a moment.

"Do you have any plans for today?" he asked a small smile on his face from the phone call. As I spoke to him, I noticed that his keyboard was still clicking gently.

"I was thinking of having some cereal and then going to the backyard to paint,".

He smiled and laughed softly, still typing on his keyboard.

"I'm glad to hear you still love your cereal. You have fun with your painting today, sweetheart. I'll see you later at home."

There was a brief keyboard sound, and at this point his typing started to get faster, indicating that his meeting was nearly over.

"Bye.. baby," I finally said 'baby' for the first time before hanging up the phone.

He paused for a moment when he heard me say the term for the first time, a soft smile on his face. He was still typing, I could tell that the call was about to be over because the keyboard started to get faster.

"Bye, sweetheart," He spoke softly and the line went quiet.
