Year 3828 — Neon Market — Section Unus
The next morning Astraea set off towards the Neon Market in Section Unus. Her ship was different this time.
The ship itself was rounded cylindrical shape that sharpened near the front with thrusters on its sides. It was smaller in size, made for solo missions with one seat on the bridge. The hovering chair stood in front of the console where a large window displayed the outside. The front window was oval shaped and there were two more windows on the side walls.
Just behind the orange leather-like chair was a bright circle on the floor of the ship. A teleport.
Teleports were usually used for close distances. Teleports that could move whole cyber ships were only used for extreme missions because they took more energy to use.
There is also a range that the teleports have in order to work. Which was the reason the squad couldn't teleport out of the forest on their previous mission.
The trip to Neon was also longer than the mission to Giatov because it was further into Section Unus. For this reason, Astraea spent her time analyzing the layout of Neon.
The Neon Market is not located on any planet. Instead it was based on a series of asteroids. These asteroids are closely clustered together and move rather slowly. This means the market is never in one spot but floating throughout space.
Each of the asteroids are connected by a series of heavily enforced bridges to allow the people to travel between them like islands. The center asteroid has a tall obelisk in its middle which creates an invisible field around the cluster. This field gives Neon's inhabitants the ability to breathe and not be affected by spacial temperatures.
Neon is labeled as the universe's largest market because it contains products from all over the universe. The marketplace extends over each of the asteroids and it would take at least half a year to explore it all.
That's why Astraea wanted to be prepared. She didn't want to get lost in the maze of food stalls and pop up tents.
After a long ride, Astraea finally arrived at her destination. The ship landed in the dock parking at highest large asteroid.
Because Neon is constantly floating throughout space it does not have a source of light such as a star. The asteroids were littered with cyber lights to keep it lit. It was constantly night time but the lights made it almost seem like day.
Astraea didn't wear her white Striker jacket knowing that it would draw attention. It was safer if she avoided people that didn't think to highly of Strikers and COSMIC. Unfortunately, there were people in the universe that didn't think COSMIC was trying to help. They might blame them for not caring about them or not being fast enough to save them.
There were cases where COSMIC could not save people or planets so others started to see them as unworthy of being able to help people.
In a populated place like Neon, staying undercover would be best unless Astraea wanted to be targeted by someone or even Eclipse.
Astraea made her way out of the ship via teleport. According to the information she was given about the mission, the seller was located in the underground market. This market was deep inside one of the asteroids and it housed the rarest of items.
As soon as Astraea reached the edge of the market place, she could here the bustling noise. There were sellers of different kinds, showcasing their goods.
Astraea couldn't help but marvel at the sight, weaving through the crowd to get a good glimpse of what was being sold. Fruits, weapons, souvenirs, anything one could think of could be found here. The stalls stood at the sides of the streets giving way for the pedestrians. String cyber lights hung from the roofs, lining the sky like little stars.
