Year 3828 — COSMIC Headquaters — Section Meden

Astraea arrived back at Headquarters a day later after she had obtained the piece she needed for her mission. Luckily, the man at the store didn't know that she was the one that busted his window and still gave her the piece.

Her entire ride back she slept and thought of how to act as if nothing happened. She had been gone for a week which wasn't too bad for a mission but she didn't know what to expect of the Colonel.

"You've successfully accomplished your mission." The Colonel scanned the box holding the generator.

"Yes, sir." Astraea remained rigid and barely breathing. Her thoughts laps around her head at all the words Zeph had told her.

He was the enemy. His persona proved it.

"You've done well for a solo mission, Striker Nelerix. Your record for discipline has been covered so you can now wait for your next mission. You're dismissed." The Colonel doesn't even blink as Astraea walked out the door.

As soon as she was out, she took a deep breath, savoring the feel of it. There was nothing good about that man.

She still hadn't faced El or Renan. The first thing she did was drop off the generator so she could finish her mission. And now all she wanted to do was rest.

To do something that will get her mind off of everything that happened.

With her bag draped over her shoulder she made her way to her room. Thankfully, no one was inside.

Exhaustedly, she sat on the side of the bed, throwing her backpack near the edge. She looked at El's neatly made bed. Astraea was curious how her mission went.

Leaning over, she unzipped her backpack and removed her unclean clothes. As she did, something feel out from one of her pockets, rolling onto the plush rug.

Astraea reached her now healed hand out to grab it. It was smooth and red.

The half of the star's heart.

She must have forgotten to take it out of her pocket. A piece of evidence.

Astraea stared down at the shiny hemispherical stone, rubbing it in between her fingers. As much as she should get rid of it, she didn't think she could.

The door then opened causing Astraea to jump, hiding the gem inside her pocket.

"You're back!" El exclaimed, oddly happier than usual.

"El!" Astraea ran up to the taller girl, wrapping her in a much need hug.

"Did your mission not go well?" She asked at the sudden embrace.

"No, it went fine but I realized how much I missed being back." Astraea buried her face as El returned it.

"All that desperation for a mission and this is how you come back." El let out an amused laugh.

"What? I can't miss my best friend?" Astraea pulled back giving her a weird look.

"No, you can miss me. I almost missed you on my mission though," El said, plopping down on her bed.

"What happened?" Astraea joined her from across.

"Technically, I'm not supposed to tell you about my mission but..." she trailed off, knowing that she couldn't keep back her exciting experience. "I was assigned a mission to capture a band of thieves along with some other Strikers in the area. Let me tell you, I had so much fun trying to track them down. If you were there we would have chased them down together and had the satisfaction of stopping them."
