Year 2828 — Neon Market — Section Unus
Zeph removed his bloody fist from the wall, revealing the rough hole he made in it.
"Why did you do that?" Astraea rushed to where he was, peering at the blood on his knuckles.
"Do you realize what just happened to us? What you did." Zeph really wasn't happy with Astraea as she was the one that chased him.
"What I did?"Astraea furrowed her brows as the fault was placed on her. "If you weren't stealing, I wouldn't have had to stop you."
"You could have let me go, just as I let you go last time." His breath hit Astraea's face as he was so close to her.
"I can't let a felon run around stealing more things." She stood her guard as his fury grew.
"How about we test that theory out from earlier?" His eyes darkened at the thought. "Killing you, might save me." Saying nothing, he removed the sword that was strapped along his back and swung at Astraea.
Thinking quickly, Astraea doubled backed avoiding his strike.
"Is this how you want to do this? I don't want to be attached to you either." She pulled out her right gun and fired, noticing a bit of blood staining her knuckles. He dodged and bullet hit the wall of the alleyway.
As she aimed to go again, the gun was swept right from her fingers. His Helix. Seeing as her weapons won't work against him, she lifted her palms to force her blue energy at him.
The blast hit the side of his leg, singeing the black pants. Zeph didn't stop as he lifted his hand and one of Astraea's knives tripped her onto the ground.
She scrambled to get up but Zeph's sword was right against her neck like the first time they met.
"Looks like you're the one on the ground now." His eyes burn into hers as she looked up at his muscular arm. "I really didn't want to kill you. Something about you really interested me so I spared you. But now I can't afford to mess up." The silver-blue sword scratched the side of Astraea's neck, reaping blood.
She felt as it pricked her skin and the coolness slowly dripping down. As she continued to glare up at him, she noticed that his side of neck also had blood on it.
Her eyes widen at the realization. "Your neck is bleeding." She then brought her eyes down at her right hand, her knuckles were flushed with blood. The pain hitting her as she looked at them.
Frowning, Zeph used his other hand to feel the sides of his neck, only to smear blood across the left side.
"If you kill me, you die too." Astraea said coming to a conclusion. "Your wounds are mine. And my wounds are yours. You can't kill me."
Zeph could see that she was right but didn't remove his sword."As much as I don't want to be next to you we have to find a way to break the connection between us. I can try to use my Helix." Astraea offered seeing that he didn't move.
Zeph gave her one more look over, scanning her loose dark brown hair that smoothly fell onto her shoulders. Her mysterious grey eyes that held a hint of blue in them. He wasn't sure what it was about her that kept drawing him to her. Maybe it was how she got riled up so easily or the fact that she tried to challenge him multiple times. He enjoyed teasing her in order to get a reaction.
But now it was different, he couldn't play around. They were bonded together and there wasn't a cure that they knew of. He had business to take care of, having a Striker tagging along would only bring trouble. This change in events put a hole in his plans so he would have no choice but work with it.
