RYZER KAISER HUXLEY

She ran straight to the bathroom, locking the door behind her.

I could still hear her soft sobs from the other side, each one piercing through me like a dagger.

Every single word she said replayed in my mind, hitting me harder than I expected.

Masakit.

It hurts more than I thought it would.

I knew I hurt her. I knew I was the reason for her pain. But as I stood there, listening to her cry, it felt like there was something else—something she wasn’t saying, something I was waiting for but couldn’t quite figure out.

I closed my eyes and took a deep breath.

I glanced at the closed bathroom door one last time before walking away.

I knew she needed space.

And maybe, I did too.

I had to let her be.

For her.

And for us.

·····FLASHBACK·····

My hands were shaking as I opened it. Divorce papers.

Putangina.

Sa sobrang inis, I started throwing things around. The pillows, the lampshade—kahit kama, halos naibaligtad ko na.

"HINDI MO 'KO PWEDE IWAN, BEATRIX!" I shouted, sabay bato ng vase sa pader.

For some reason, my chest tightened. Bakit ganito? She can’t just leave me like this.

Habang umiinom ako ng alak, dumating si Mamita—her expression full of disappointment. What’s new?

Pagpasok niya, she found me sitting on the floor, surrounded by empty bottles. I don’t even know why I felt like this.

"Akala ko ba you're happy now that she's gone? Pero bakit parang iba ang nakikita ko?" Mamita’s voice was calm, but I could feel the irritation behind her words.

I wanted to argue, pero wala akong masabi.

"Now you're getting yourself drunk—para ano? Para maawa siya at bumalik sa'yo?" she scoffed, looking down at me like I was pathetic.

Pwe!" she pointed a finger at me, disgusted.

"Ni minsan, hindi ko naranasan sa lolo niyo na saktan ako physically or even sigawan man lang. Kaya hindi ko alam kung kanino kayo nagmana ng ugali ng ama mo," she continued, her voice laced with frustration.
