BEATRIX MAVIS

I woke up in the middle of my sleep when I felt something brushing against my nape, trailing down to my shoulder.

As I opened my eyes, I was met with an unfamiliar room. I was about to sit up when I felt it again—a light touch on the back of my neck.

A sharp gasp escaped my lips when I turned and saw a person I hadn't seen in almost five years. Someone I despised.

The person who made my life miserable. The one who humiliated me, treated me worse than an animal, and left scars I thought would never heal.

"Good morning, baby," he greeted with a smirk, his arm lazily draped around me.

Panic surged through me. I immediately tried to get up, but before I could, he pulled me back down onto the bed—this time, pinning me beneath him. His hands rested firmly on my waist, trapping me.

"Where’s my good morning?" he cooed, his voice filled with fake affection.

I couldn’t meet his gaze. His eyes burned into me, searching for something I wasn’t willing to give. I tried pushing him away, but he swiftly caught both my wrists with one hand, pinning them above my head.

"Ano ba?!" I snapped, irritation lacing my voice.

He only laughed.

Then, he buried his face against my neck. I felt his warm breath ghost over my skin, followed by the unmistakable sensation of his tongue trailing against it. I shuddered, wanting to push him off, but his grip on my wrists was unyielding.

"I really, really miss you, baby," he murmured hoarsely, his voice muffled against my skin.

A dry, humorless chuckle slipped from my lips.

"Akala ko ba ayaw mong umuulit ng putahe?" I asked, forcing my voice to remain steady despite the lump in my throat.

He didn’t respond. His breathing grew heavier, and soon, I realized—he had fallen asleep. His weight pressed down on me, making it difficult to move.

Damn, ang bigat niya.

I let my gaze wander around the room, trying to figure out where I was. It wasn’t familiar. My eyes landed on the slightly open window, revealing a view of towering coconut trees swaying under the moonlight.

My gaze traveled further. A single white door stood at the far end of the room, and beside it, a tall cabinet. Next to the bed was a small nightstand with a lampshade.

Boring. Plain. Lifeless.

Then, a memory surfaced—unbidden, unwanted.

Tears pricked at my eyes as the past came rushing back...

·····FLASHBACK·····

He scoffed, rolling his eyes like he was tired of my existence.

"Because I'm sick of you," mariin niyang sabi, bawat salita niya may bigat, parang sinasadyang iparamdam sa akin kung gaano siya kairita.
