A New Place

(Luisa POV) 15-16y

I laid in my bed, I had worked all day and even into the night but i didn't feel tired, I twisted and turned but my bed felt like a slab of stone, and I realized that just laying here isn't working, so I got up and headed outside, I needed the fresh air.
I walked through the town, looking at the peaceful quiet houses, I planned on having a short walk around town to tire myself out, but if anything more I felt more awake, so I decided to take a walk through the forest and make sure everything was safe, and before I knew it I had no idea where I was, I just knew there was mountain beside me, so I started walking the perimeter of encanto

I approached the split in the mountain and remembered the story my mama told me when I was little

"A long time ago, before you were born,  when it was just me, Pepa, and Bruno, the candle that gives us our gifts almost went out, you see, the candle was made out of compassion, with the purpose to keep the evil out and the good in, however, the evil started seeping into our lives, we were always angry at each other and other people and the magic started failing, our gifts didn't work, and encanto started falling apart and that mountain split, when we realized what was wrong we managed to fix it before anything else went wrong and we got our magic back, but the mountain stays split to remind of what happens when we let hate take over our lives, so remember to keep happiness in your heart".

I had never really been up close to the split, I had never even seen out of encanto but I was curious, I walked closer, I just wanted to take a peek out, as I got closer though I heard some talking and laughing, then I heard a yell of pain.
I rushed to the split and on the other side I was greeted with the sight of grown men crowding around a young girl, she looked to be about my age, and they had their weapons drawn, so I acted.

I grabbed the first by the collar and threw him into the wall of rock, then grabbed the second and threw him into a man running at the girl, knocking both out, and lastly I stomped towards the leader, who was attempting to run away, and grabbed him by the back of his shirt, and yanked him backwards, slamming him into a tree and applying pressure on his chest until he stopped struggling.

I looked at the girl laying on the ground, who was covered in dust and I think she passed out, I knew abuela would be mad, but even if she wasn't from encanto it was still my job to help her, so I scooped her up and rushed back to casita with her in my arms

When I got back with her I realized I actually had no clue what to do, so I just went to the kitchen and grabbed some food my mama made earlier then tried to sneak to my room hoping noone would notice me, I had almost made it when I saw Isa and Doloros waiting for me in front of my room, quickly hiding the girl behind my back, I gave them a nervous smile

"hey guys, just went for a walk to clear my head where nothing interesting happened," Isa raised he eyebrow "so i'm gonna go to bed now and you guys should too, goodnight"

I tried to walk past them but they stopped me in my tracks, and Isa glared at me

"d'you think were stupid? Dolores heard everything, now hand her over" she held out her palm

"what? no i'm not go-, I mean, who? had who over?"

Isa just sighed and said "its obvious you have no clue what you're even doing, have you checked if shes hurt, have you even checked her pulse?"

I hadn't even thought of those things, I looked at the ground guiltily 

"no" I answered
