A Confession

(Luisa POV)

I walked out side to think, I needed to be away from everything for a minute so I walked deep into the surrounding forest, finding a nice place to rest I sat down and went into deep thought, which I didn't do often.

every third thought was Alana, her smile, her laugh, her pretty face, her beautiful body, and my face got steadily warmer as I thought more about her, peaking in heat at the last thought and I buried it in my arms, why was everything about her so perfect and why did i like her so much, just weeks prior to this i had thought of her as nothing more than a friend.

I kept picturing her face in my mind, specifically her lips, and every time I tried to think about something else it always circled back to that, I was scared of what was gonna happen if I did tell her my feelings, what would she think of me, what would my family and the town think, i'd never heard of two girls liking each other before and I was lost on what to do, my mind spiralling further and further.

from not too far away I hear a roar, it sounded like a Hellbore and I got up, ready to do my job, I listened for it again and ran in the direction I heard it from, trying to keep it from entering town.
I came to the area I heard it from and everything was silent, I looked around to try and find anything suspicious, not noticing the vine creeping up on me from behind.

it wrapped around me and threw me into a rock, smashing it into bits, usually I would have thought of my family but right now all I could think of was Alana, what this thing could do to her if I didn't win.

the Hellbore finally came out of its hiding place and threw a viney limb at me, catching me off guard, it hit me across the face and threw me into a tree this time, I shook my head and caught it when it tried to hit me again and wrapped its arm around a tree and pulled as hard as I could, eventually tearing through it, now weakened the Hellbore became more agitated and tried to hit me with its intact limb, but I rolled out of the way, I grabbed the tree I knocked over before and noticed the sharp splintered way it had broken, and got an idea, the next time it lunged at me I threw the tree like a javelin and it pierced straight through its chest, felling the giant beast.

I walked home slowly, my mind still on Alana, during the fight all I could think of was protecting her and I came to a realization "I think i'm in love with this girl" I said it out loud but quietly, hoping no one had heard me.
eventually I got back to casita and went in the kitchen and saw my mama and Alana talking, then she saw me and rushed over

"ay mija, again? why do you put yourself in danger so much?" she touched a cut on my lip I wasn't even aware I had and I noticed Alana staring at it, then she turned her head away, blushing.

"mama you know why, to protect you, that's my job" I smiled, wincing as my lip stung a little bit

my mama stuffed arepa in my mouth "it's an old one so it wont heal it fully, but I don't have anything fresh right now"

"it's okay mama, I understand" I touched my lip and felt a small nick in it, but it didn't hurt anymore

my mama soon left the kitchen, leaving me and Alana alone, we sat in silence for a moment before she asked "what happened?"

"I found a Hellbore in the forest and I took it down" I explained simply, she looked at me with concern and was about to say something when we were interrupted by my hermanas, Isa and Mira bursting in

"you guys have to go out to the forest" 

"what, why?" me and Alana said in unison, but they offered no explanation, just pushing us out the door, we tried to get back in but casita seemed to have locked itself, so we just looked at each other and shrugged "what do you think that was all about" I asked
