(Luisa POV) 13-14y
My name is Luisa Madrigal and I am 13 years old, I'm one of the first ones up in the morning, working out before breakfast, afterwards I'm the first one out the door, the moment I step into town my name is called
"Luisa the donkeys"
"Luisa a tree fell"
"Luisa my house is tilted"Soon the day turns to night and i'm one of the last ones to arrive home, I eat then help clean up after dinner.
My name is Luisa Madrigal, and I turned 14 today.I finished with the dishes and started up to my room when I was stopped by Mirabel
"Luisa follow me, quick" she grabbed my hand and started dragging me along
"What for Mira?" I chuckled at her antics, she just huffed and kept dragging me along and into the nursery, where I saw some colourful streamers hanging from the ceiling
"Mira whats all this fo-"
I was cut off by a hug from her
"Happy birthday Luisa"
My eyes started to tear up and I hugged her back tightly, she wheezed "Lu, you're crushing me"
I quickly let her go and wiped my eyes while she grabbed a small package and held it out to me, I grabbed it and gingerly unwrapped it to find a braided bright red ribbon
Mira looked at me with shining eyes and said "I noticed yours was getting dull and frayed so I decided to make you a new one, mama helped"
I stayed quiet and just looked at it
"I'm you don't like it-"
I cut her off with another back breaking hug and let her go before I could cause any damage
"This is the most beautiful ribbon I've ever seen" I said to her, I silently vowed that I would lay down my life with zero hesitation for my precious hermanita.I soon retired to my room and fell asleep almost instantly, today was one of the harder days of work.
When I woke up that morning I threw on my poncho and headed down to breakfast, I had started wearing a poncho because it hid most of the scars on my arms, hid them from the townspeople who seemed scared of me whenever they saw them, and to hide them from my family, I know it tires out mama to heal me so I've just started taking care of it myself, I wouldn't want to worry her.
I headed into town to start on my chores, thankful that it wasn't too hot today, I had started work when I saw a group of kids my age playing a game where they kicked a ball around, I was curious so I approached them
"Could I play?" I asked nervously
" of cou-"
The words died in their mouth when they saw my face, their expressions changing from surprise to scorn
"You're not allowed to play with us, our parents said you're dangerous" one of them said
I was confused, I protected the town, how was I dangerous, how could they think that
One of the girls spoke up "my sister says you're a crybaby, we don't wanna play with crybabies" she sneered "shouldn't you be working right now or something"
They were right, I did have to be working, so I sadly walked back to round up donkeys.Later in the day I was moving a house when I heard footsteps running at me, I whipped around to see Dolores, she managed to puff out a few words between breaths
"Behind the bakery, there was a fight, she needs your help, then she went back to panting heavily.
I put down the house and started running, I didn't know who or what exactly but I knew someone needed help, I turned the corner behind the bakery and saw the 4 kids from earlier kicking someone curled up on the ground, I ran forward and threw them to the sides before talking to the kid on the ground"Are you okay? Can you hear me?" no response,
I looked around and saw a pair of shaped glasses with green rims and realized who was curled on the ground, little hermana was bloody and bruised from those kids and I felt nothing but rage, I grabbed one by the collar and slammed him against the wall, he looked at me with fear in his eyes and started apologizing, but I didn't care, he had hurt my sister, I pulled my fist back then punched.
