A Bad Man

(Luisa POV) 24-25y

I watched with amusement while Mira stood on her tiptoes, just barely too short to reach, and she forowned at my chuckles and strained to reach farther,  still coming just short, so I decided to tease her a little bit

"hey Mira, you need some help with that?'

she shot me a scowl, "no. I got it"

"are you suuure?"

"I got it!"

"if you say so"

I went back to watching while she extended her fingers as far as they could reach, but to no avail, so she groaned and turned to me, mumbling something under her breath

"what was that? I didn't hear you"

she let out a frustrated breath and said out loud this time "Luisa, can you help m-" she was cut off by a small voice

"Luisa Luisa, I wanna hang up streamers bu i'm too short"

I chuckled at little Maria, who was four years old, and said "of course I can help you, come on, where do we need to go"

Mirabel had a look of betrayal on her face as I was pulled out of the room, then Maria held her arms up at me, gesturing to get up, so I grabbed her and threw her up in the air while she laughed with glee, then I caught her and put her on my shoulders.

I started walking over to the stairs when by vision went black, my little sobrina, giggling

"haha, now you're blind"

"oh no, tiny hands, my only weakness,"

I stuck out my hands, feigning blindness even though I could see through the gaps in her fingers, then I saw a some hair poking from around the corner and I knew what was happening, and announced loudly "I really hope I don't get attacked while i'm blind, that would be terrible,"

I heard more giggles, and as I rounded the corner something latched around my shin, attempting to trip me, but I kept walking as if nothing had happened while Miguel yanked on my leg, but I just yawned

"wow, i'm sure glad nothing tried to attack me, that could've been bad, but if someone were to attacky my left leg then that could've been trouble"

Miguel quickly looked around, spotting who he was looking for and started yelling "Carmen! come help us take down mi mama!"

I heard a shout of agreement and soon something wrapped around my other leg and I stumbled into the living room as I fell on the couch and they swarmed over me while I laughed

"I yield, I yield, you guys win! just let me go!"

"never, you're our prisoner now!" they shouted in unison, making it clear I would be here awhile, but I had a way to speed it up

"okay, but you guys asked for it" and I stood, throwing the three of of them over my shoulders and walking to the kitchen, dropping of Maria and Carmen with Dolores and Mariano, then going over to Alana who was helping my mama make dinner for the town

"hola amor, this guy keeps bothering me while i'm trying to work, can you keep him busy for a bit"

"of course mi vida, he's going to help make food now"

Miguel let out a groan, "but mami, it's my ceremony today, doesn't that mean I don't have to help?"

"no mijo, it means you have to help extra"

he grumbled something and I kissed Alana on the cheek, he audibly gagged, I just chuckled and went back to setting up for the party, running into town to move the bridge so the route to casita was faster, I kept shooting glances at the split, I couldn't check it today because the preparations took up too much of the day, besides, what were the chances that the one day I didn't check it something came through.
