Guardian AU

it was finally summer vacation, kids ran around the streets, the market was bustling with life, flowers and fruits were in full bloom, almost every child was playing carefree games with each other, almost.

the madrigal kids were busy almost every day, and even though it was summer it was no different for them, they had very little free time for playing, Isabela didn't really have chores but she still wasn't allowed to play much, Luisa was busy with heavy lifting all day, and Dolores preferred hanging out with Mirabel and Camilo instead of going to town, the noises of the village often overwhelmed her.

the sun was setting and Luisa was heading back home, she met a shrieking Camilo at the door, he slammed them open and before she knew it he had ran into her

"what are you doing Camilo?"

"Luisa! just the person I need! So I pulled a teensy weensy prank on Dolores and she said she's gonna kill me, you gotta protect me!"

they spotted Dolores inside casita running towards them both and Camilo hid behind Luisa

"Camilo you little rat! you think Luisa will still defend you after I tell her what you did?" Dolores sounded really angry

"wait, what did Camilo even do?"

"he tried to push me and mirabel down the stairs!"

Luisa whipped around and grabbed him as he tried to slip away

"you what?!"

"I didn't really try to, I just nudged them, I didn't even want them to fall, I just wanted them to think they would fall" his excuses weren't convincing anyone

"you shoved our backs and we only managed to stay up by grabbing the railing! You definitely wanted us to fall!"

Luisa held him there while Dolores started lecturing him

"I know you like pulling pranks but you can't hurt people Milo, Julieta isn't here right now so one of us could've gotten badly hurt, and pranks aren't funny when people get really hurt"

Camilo looked a little regretful now and sheepishly rubbed his arm

"Sorry Lola, I won't do it again"

"Good, now let's head back inside"

They went into the kitchen of casita and Luisa washed her hands while Dolores talked to Isabela, behind all of them Camilo was chatting with Mirabel while running the sink, presumably also washing his hands.

That's what they thought at least, but his true intentions were revealed as a bright coloured ball hit Dolores and she was soaked in an instant, she gasped in shock and turned to face a giggling Camilo and Mirabel

"This prank didn't hurt anyone so it's okay, right hermana?"

"Why you little-"

She was cut off by another balloon, then one hit Luisa, they ran for the sink while Mira and Milo ran away and they both filled up their own balloons and made a team.

Soon the kitchen was covered in water and small bits of bright material, Luisa was drawing out Camilo, who had evaded a lot of the splashing so far while Dolores prowled behind the table with two balloons in hand, she saw Camilo slowly approach Luisa's turned back and raise his hands

"Come on, just a little closer..."

She was mumbling and soon it happened, just as Camilo fully revealed himself and threw one of his balloons, Dolores jumped up and whipped hers at him.

They flew across the kitchen in a beautiful arc, Camilo's mischievous smile turned into an expression of dread as he realized his mistake, he shifted into several people in surprise but the first balloon made impact before he could get away, with a beautiful WAP it exploded directly in his face, soaking almost all of him and making him fall, the second soared over his head and directly towards their unaware prima, who was growing a flower, Doloress excitement turned to terror as she watched the balloon rapidly approaching Isabela, who was still oblivious to the danger, only realizing something was wrong as Dolores let out a yell of warning, she turned in surprise but it was too late, and everyone watched in shock as señorita perfecta was slammed in the face by a balloon
