Grabbing a window seat, Kaede grabbed her school supplies and put some books on her desk so she could occupy herself until the teacher showed up. Some of the books she had brought with her were about writers who had written down their experiences in a biography.
Kaede had started reading one of them and had stuck a piece of paper in it, on which she had picked out keywords for the topics that might suit her writing style. This writer did not specialize in novels, which Kaede sometimes read herself, but in fantasy stories.
For Kaede, this area was only interesting because the writing style was different from the novels she knew. The choice of words was different, as the fantasies usually used strong language, which was less common in love stories.
Of course, Kaede didn't know that many of the students who came into the classroom were watching her. Among them was a gray-haired boy who had immediately noticed this girl. His name was Osamu Miya and he had previously been stopped by some girls who had mistaken him for his twin brother Atsumi.
The two of them had actually dyed their hair a different color so that this mix-up could no longer happen. It would probably be a few days before all the girls noticed the difference.
For a brief moment, this girl lifted her head, leaving the pencil on the paper. Her green-brown eyes looked straight into his, with a slight smile visible on her lips.
It was kind of new to Osamu that a girl hadn't freaked out right away. He would have thought that she would be like everyone else and come up to him. However, she had not only looked at him, but also at the clock hanging on the wall.
Immediately afterwards, Osamu could see her putting her paper in the book next to her and placing it on a small pile. She must really enjoy reading. Of course, he didn't know why she read so much.
As lessons were about to start, Osamu chose a place to sit himself. So that he had as much peace and quiet as possible from all the girls, he simply took the left-hand seat of the girl sitting by the window.
A pleasant smell immediately spread through his nose. It was a perfume that he didn't find bad at all. The scent was subtle and not strong.
Osamu had already smelled many perfumes that had almost killed him. When he had to go shopping with his mother, he was allowed to smell everything even on her, which could be really unpleasant for a boy.
He knew many perfumes and their fragrances, even though he was not at all familiar with them. The fact that he had already smelled so many made him realize that her perfume shouldn't even come from Japan.
Or maybe it wasn't even a perfume, but her hair shampoo that was so pleasant. Maybe this girl wasn't even wearing any perfume.
His brother would be getting on his nerves here now, as he had never looked at a girl for any length of time. Just because of that thought alone, Osamu turned his gaze away from her and waited for class to finally start.
