Kaede was often in Tokyo to visit Dai. However, it seemed very different to her today. Bigger and fuller, which she had never noticed. Dai had probably shielded her from it. Or she had never noticed it because of him, as most of her eyes were on him.
Her path led through the station, which wasn't exactly small. In her hand was only a small suitcase, which she had stuffed with her clothes. In her rucksack was her laptop and some leftover food that she had barely managed to bring down.
Her eyes took a closer look at everything. Signs, paths, people, everything she could find. The more information she had, the better she could transfer it to her book. Of course, she could have done this longer ago. But her focus was not yet on Tokyo itself, which was now a part of her life.
Kaede had often mentioned small places in Tokyo in her novel, but she had only learned about them from Dai. If Kaede was honest, his role as Daisuke was not as important as Osamu's role, which she had mentioned again and again.
Kaede had already thought about how she wanted Daisuke to develop. More or less, Dai remained as he was. But there was still that one situation that made him into a different person. And it was precisely on this point that Kaede was unsure.
Did she let Daisuke go in this toxic direction that really happened? Or was she simply writing his jealousy towards the main protagonist?
If Kaede wanted to write her real life, she would probably have no choice but to portray Daisuke as the bad guy. A role that would replace Osamu and give Kaede some closure.
Unfortunately, Kaede wasn't even close to being ready. Her book had been put to one side for about a year. She didn't know herself how much time she had apart from her studies.
"This is probably it..." Kaede said, looking at the building. The building in which only students who had registered at her university were allowed to live. Her father had been kind enough to pay for her small apartment, which she would gladly pay back.
The relationship with him and his new wife, whom he had recently married, had improved considerably. Actually, since Kaede had been able to deal with her mother's death relatively well thanks to her novel.
Kaede no longer wanted to stand between her father's happiness. She didn't want to avoid him either, as it wouldn't be good in the long run anyway. She would rather accept the new relationship than see everyone sad and hurt.
Her mother wouldn't want her to be angry with him for years either. At least that's what Kaede believed as soon as she remembered her character.
Her eyes now turned to the board that was hung up in the hallway so that every newcomer knew exactly who would be staying where. "Tokoyami...Tokoyami..." Kaede murmured quietly to herself as her finger stroked the names.
When she reached her name, she ran her finger a little to the left. "Floor three, room 311." Kaede mumbled to herself and had to smile when she looked at the last two digits. Was it a coincidence that she got exactly the eleven? Probably yes. Because the school had no way of knowing that Osamu's number was exactly eleven.
