Finding a publisher was not exactly easy in Japan. At least not the kind that would print normal books. Most of the publishers had more to do with manga, which was a big business. Kaede wouldn't stand a chance with them anyway. Unless she turned her novel into several parts and made a manga out of it. She could also write a novel for each person, which would make the story even more extensive.

But Kaede wanted to publish a real and thick book. One that you could read in one piece and learn from. The bullying or suicide rate was pretty high in every country.

You could understand it in a manga, but it was more of a cliché to create a character. Funnily enough, Kaede had read up on it, as manga was also a form of writing. Only with self-drawn pictures and speech bubbles.

But Kaede couldn't really compare a mangaka and a writer. There were some differences that were easy to recognize. While Kaede had to describe her characters as well as possible, the mangaka had the opportunity to draw them so that the readers could have an accurate picture.

After several visits to publishers that Kaede had made in Tokyo, there was an older man who had taken her on. She was allowed to send him a copy, which he would read at his leisure. Kaede was already nervous at that moment. But it was better to be nervous than to be afraid of being rejected again.

Because the Tokoyami had enough of those. Many of the publishers were afraid to make these topics public. Kaede had never understood why. She thought it was more important to talk about such topics and situations. Because covering up or ignoring everything would not help anyone affected.

Sometimes you could perhaps say that some people were uptight. They were simply afraid of what other people might think of them. But that's exactly what many things should prevent. To show people that anything was actually possible.

For Kaede herself, it would have been a great help in the past if someone had addressed her issues. Written a book about it to help her out of the black hole. Now Kaede had done it herself.

For herself, for Megumi, for Chika and, above all, for Kazumi. Because she was the center of it all. She was the reason that this book, this novel, came about at all.

Kazumi had believed in her. Said that she should write a book from her diary. But Chika had also been a help. She had given Kaede the final push.

For that reason alone, Kaede's nervousness, which had been staring at her cell phone, slowly faded. The young woman breathed in and out deeply before the name of the man who had sent her a message appeared on the screen.

Staring at it, Kaede didn't know how to react before the tears simply flowed from her eyes and the whole burden was lifted from her.
