Somewhat surprised, Osamu looked at Kaede, who had lowered her head slightly but was still smiling a little. It seemed that she was really used to her grandmother forgetting her face. Knowing Kaede as he did, she would have told anyone else who she was. Only here, in front of her grandma, she remained silent and patient, which was really remarkable.

"Grandma, I'm sitting in front of you." Kaede spoke a little softly and was looked at by the brown eyes. She now looked at her hands, which had been warmed by another hand.

"I am your magnolia." came from Kaede's lips, as her grandmother had often received such flowers. Kaede wouldn't forget that her grandma had used them to describe her character.

"Ohhh, Kaede...dear..." the gray-haired girl spoke after a few seconds and received a peaceful smile. "How long have you been here?"

"Just got here." Kaede lied, which Osamu left as it was. Kaede probably knew exactly how to deal with everything here. She had described similar situations in her novel.

"Is that your boyfriend?" the old woman asked, causing Kaede to open her mouth slightly. "I..." "Yes." Osamu spoke quickly, causing Kaede's eyes to widen and blush. Her gaze turned to the Miya, who had been standing there very calmly, grinning slightly at Kaede's edits.

"W..hat..." Kaede could barely get anything out of her mouth. How did Osamu think to say something like that to her grandma? It wasn't true, so why?

"How nice." her grandma beamed, which is why Kaede couldn't and didn't want to say any more. It had been a long time since she had seen her grandma beaming like that, which is why Kaede herself was touched.

"You know, my granddaughter eats a lot of food. It would do her good to have someone like you by her side." the woman began to speak, which was now totally embarrassing for Kaede. "I hope she doesn't cause you any trouble."

"Not at all." Osamu smiled and found it amusing how embarrassed Kaede found everything. She was now taken in by a hand on her cheek.

"You've chosen a handsome young man." she complimented Osamu again. Yes, Kaede had to admit it. Osamu was really good-looking, no matter what he was wearing. But if only she knew that it wasn't true at all.

"I'm sure Kazumi likes him too." her grandma said immediately, which made Osamu gulp. She should know that Kazumi was no longer alive. But Kyoko had also said in the novel that Koko would be fine.

His eyes turned to Kaede, who had been at her grave with him yesterday. It must have hurt her a lot to hear that statement. When would Kaede tell her the truth?

"Grandma...listen...", Kaede began to say and could barely look her in the eye. She remembered quite well how Chika and Megumi had also been here before. Her grandma had really beamed at Chika when she had come in.

An obvious sign that she had clearly mistaken Chika for Kazumi. A moment that had already happened to Kaede herself. But if she didn't tell her grandma, it wouldn't help her any.

"Kazumi she...she's not here anymore." came carefully from Kaede's lips, which she now bit down on herself. A silence fell in which no one said a word. "I...should have told you sooner..." the Tokoyami confessed quietly, tearfully, and felt her grandmother's hand on her cheek again.

With slightly blurred vision, Kaede looked up. She could see a slight gleam in the brown eyes, which must also have come from insight.

It seemed that her grandmother no longer had her fog in front of her eyes, but a clear opinion and a clear presence, just like back then. "I know..." came from her lips, causing Kaede's eyes to widen. "What...? Why and...since when?"

"It's been a while, dear. After you visited me in your senior year and opened up to me in tears, another visit came. I already figured with you that something couldn't be right and you just couldn't tell me. Your parents came to visit me and told me what had happened. Your mother also told me that she didn't dare talk to you because of what had happened."

Tears gathered in Kaede's eyes as her lips began to quiver. All these years she thought that her grandmother would forget everything anyway. That it would do no good to tell her about Kazumi's death. And yet the Nishida made the confession that Kaede could never say.

"I've always waited for you to tell me, my little magnolia." , said the gray-haired girl, which is why Kaede couldn't help but cry and was pulled to her grandmother's chest as she had once been. Her hand ran over her hair as always. A gesture that Kaede would soon no longer have with her either. After all, her grandmother had endured her illness for a very long time. No one could say how much longer she would live.

"You are so strong, Kaede..." the woman spoke softly and gently, which Osamu could only watch. Another burden must have fallen from Kaede's shoulders. Telling her grandmother the truth herself had certainly been very difficult for her. "But...you now have friends by your side who are there for you. Talk to them, tell them how you feel. Please stop bottling everything up and suppressing your feelings. Even if you are as strong as a magnolia."

As the old woman said these words, she looked at Osamu, who had nodded without hesitation. But he wasn't the only one to be addressed. Megumi and Chika also had an influence on Kaede. Even his twin brother.

"Stick to them when I'm no longer there." the gray-haired girl asked, which Kaede could clearly understand and wanted to accept. Her grandmother knew that she would soon no longer be able to be there for her due to her illness and age. "I...promise...it." swallowed Kaede, who just wanted to enjoy the warm moment and the loving arms.
