Despite their best efforts, the victory ultimately went to Karasuno High School, who scored 32 points in the third set. Unfortunately, Kaede realized that the twins had made a big mistake with their last attack.

Megumi had explained to her that it was a slanted riser that had worked by chance in the first set. Only, according to her, the brothers had never practiced this attack and had used it to try and score another point. And it looked like the number nine and number ten Karasuno had seen this beforehand and blocked the ball.

The other players had pretty much prepared for the ball to come into the back court, they had all positioned themselves there. Surprisingly, it wasn't even necessary for them. So basically, a well-deserved victory for the crows.

"You guys played really well.", Chika spoke as she came out of the hall with the boys and Kaede had been waiting here with Megumi. "I really thought that attack would work." grumbled Atsumu to himself, more than frustrated with all the players.

"The Karasuno was simply better." Aran said and was relatively calm about the matter. This was certainly also due to the fact that he had been there longer and had probably also lost.

They had made it to the final the year before, but they hadn't won against the Itachiyama. When Kaede found out about this at school, she had to smile slightly. Dai had told her that not only his football team was good, but also every team in the volleyball club.

It wasn't really funny for Atsumu, who had tried to put her down with his typical manner. But as always, he didn't succeed. Today, however, she somehow couldn't smile about it. Kaede had never really thought about the feelings of those who had lost a game.

She could see a lot of different emotions on the boys' faces. While Kita and Aran were the calm ones and Suna hardly showed much emotion anyway, the others looked more than just frustrated and sad.

Kaede could also recognize a sadness in Osamu, but he didn't want to show it quite so openly. This was probably his pride as one of the Miya. "Don't play so obviously next time." he slammed out provocatively. "Don't be so mean to me!" Atsumu scolded back.

Here Kaede could see that Osamu was trying to change his brother's mind rather than feeling sorry for himself. Pretty cute, somehow.

Kaede shook her head briefly and Chika looked at her questioningly. No, she couldn't think Osamu was cute! She had a boyfriend and only needed the gray-haired man for the part of her novel. That was all she was allowed to feel. Or could she?

Unsure, Kaede bit her lower lip. Her feelings were no longer as clear to her as they had been at the beginning. It was just that she still loved Dai. After all, she had known him for a long time and knew what he was like.

Well, apart from the toxic side that had appeared. But she couldn't break up with him just because of this one incident. His jealousy was the thing that always stood out in his character. Dai really seemed to have seen Osamu as a great rival that day. Almost sureal.

"Come on, let's go." , she heard Chika say next to her so she could get Kaede out of her thoughts. Whatever she had been thinking about must have been really on her mind.
