Kaede had not missed the look on Osamu's face. She could sense how worried he was about what had just happened. But Kaede didn't want to talk about it right now and first had to realize for herself what had been triggered in her. She never thought she would see these people again one day. That they had learned nothing from their mistakes, just as Kaede had wanted to achieve with her book. These women probably hadn't even read her book.
"What did Chika actually do?" Osamu asked, so that Kaede could get her mind off things. "I found out about Megumi because of Atsumu."
"Chika became a game developer." Kaede grinned. "She has turned her hobby of gaming into her profession and is testing it out with her boyfriend Kenma. Her parents actually wanted her to become a doctor or something similar."
"With her good grades..." Osamu began, stunned, as Kaede laughed softly. "Canceled one of the best studies, yes." Kaede replied and was glad that Osamu didn't go into any more detail about the perpetrators.
"Tell me, do you have any plans for later?" Kaede asked and Osamu looked at her questioningly. "That depends, why?"
The brown-haired girl bit her lips lightly. "I...would like to show you a few things." admitted the young woman, who was now quite sure that she could really open up to Osamu. She had already had this thought in high school, but had never been able to bring herself to do so.
"Maybe it wasn't just a coincidence that you showed up here in Hyogo for my autograph session." Kaede continued. "You mean something like fate, what you wrote for Kyoko and Ojiro so that they would have an end?"
"Maybe." Kaede admitted and exhaled for a moment. "There's a place where you can get some pretty tasty pastries."
"You want to eat pastries now?" Osamu asked, confused. "At this time of day, you're more likely to eat something lighter." he said, not really in the mood for sweets. But Kaede had other plans and simply grabbed his hand to pull him along.
The next few meters were no big problem for the twenty-five-year-old. Osamu's hand made Kaede feel much lighter and braver than usual. However, these feelings evaporated when Kaede suddenly stopped.
Despite the fact that Kaede had Osamu's hand in hers, she trembled. An attitude that caused Osamu to squeeze her hand a little tighter.
His gray eyes first turned to her face before he followed her gaze. There was a museum just a few meters in front of them, followed by a tea store. Osamu knew exactly which area he could see here.
This was where it had happened. Not far from his feet lay the lifeless body of Kazumi, which was seen by passers-by. But also by Kaede, who had run down after the jump to make sure Kazumi wasn't still breathing.
He was aware that Kaede had tried to go to the tea store with him to eat the apparently delicious pastries that Kazumi and Kaede had joined. But she still found it very difficult to go any further.
"We don't have to go there." Osamu spoke to her gently. "But I know. I...finally want to try..." Kaede admitted quietly, her voice slightly shaky. "I've been putting it off for ten years. My book should help me too."
Osamu smiled gently. Kaede processed everything in her own way and finally took a step forward today. "Good, I'm with you." he said, which also made Kaede smile.
