"So, have you thought about it yet?" asked Chika, who had approached Kaede at her locker and had long since put her shoes on her feet. "Huh?" came the question from the brown-haired girl, who lifted her right foot a little and slapped the shoe on the floor several times so that her verses could get in better.

"About the book." Chika said with a smile. "Ehm, I've already thought about it. But I almost missed class because of it." Kaede admitted, which made Chika feel a little guilty. "Oh, sorry. I didn't mean to."

"It's okay." Kaede waved her off in a friendly manner and looked at the gray-haired girl a little longer. "Tell me, what class are you in?" she wanted to know. "In 1-4. Why?"

Kaede nodded in understanding. She herself was in 1-3, which belonged to the middle level. "So does that mean you want to study?" she asked immediately and closed her locker.

"I don't know yet. But I'm already studying quite a lot." Chika admitted and automatically ran out of the building with Kaede. "Someone even told me once that I study too much and that I should take more breaks. But that's really hard."

"Yes, you should really listen to that person." Kaede agreed with her and wondered if maybe it was a friend or something. "Tell me... who actually told you that?"

"Oh, a very old school friend of mine who I more or less grew up with. But my parents wanted me to go to a different school so that I could get more support." Chika said, happy to talk about it. "I play against him every now and then."

"How...?" Kaede was confused. They didn't see each other? Why?

"Well, he's a bit further away, which is why we can't see each other anymore. His name is Kenma Kozume and he's at Nekoma High School." she reported.

"Tell me, Chika. Could it be that you trust some people too quickly?" Kaede wanted to know. She thought it was nice that Chika could speak so openly here, whereas she was quite shy around her bullies.

"Huh? Why? You're like my best friend. And you can be trusted." The gray-haired girl smiled, which made Kaede look away from her. Best friend? That quickly? But she couldn't do that to Kazumi.

"Did I say something wrong?" Chika wanted to know, having noticed Kaede's mood. "No, everything's fine. It came so suddenly..."

"I'm sorry. I didn't mean to overwhelm you or call you something you didn't want." the girl apologized. Here Kaede realized that she was really different from Kazumi. While Kazumi had always spoken in a more calm and reserved manner, Chika was the complete opposite.

It seemed that the two of them only really shared a shyness towards people who were putting them down. And that really made Kaede think that she should give her book a try.
